"Strangeness is a necessary ingredient in beauty." - French Poet, Charles Baudelaire.

Her Head's On Fire is a fierce quartet with an impressive pedigree (Garrison, Small Brown Bike, The Bomb, and Saves the Day) serving up heart-seeking post-hardcore and emotive rock with enlivening riffs and melodies. The indie rock supergroup offers their strangeness to beauty with Strange Desires, their sophomore effort and follow-up to their debut, College Rock & Clove Cigarettes.

Strange Desires deepens and expands on their first release. It has moments reminiscent of late 80s New Wave, early 90s indie, and post-hardcore peppered with poetic oddities that make the band's music memorable.

From the gauntlet-throw of an opener "Cuts" through the swaggering sneer of "Aren't I the Champion" to closer "The Rain," this record is full of intentional sidewinders--smart, literate songs about the most primal feelings and experiences we share as humans.

In some ways, this increased heft is emotional. The aforementioned track, "The Rain," is rooted in both the tragic 2021 passing of guitarist Jeff Dean's friend and Planes Mistaken for Stars vocalist/guitarist Gared O'Donnell as well as the death of vocalist Sid Jagger's father.

In other ways, it is sonic. Legendary producer John Agnello (Jawbox, Son Volt, Kurt Vile, Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr) mixed the record, Jeff Dean recorded it, and Jason Narducy (Superchunk, Bob Mould, Sunny Day Real Estate, Foo Fighters) co-produced it along with the band. The result is a captivating indie rock wall of sound from start to finish.

New England has always served as a breeding ground for some of the most passionate and heartfelt voices in hardcore. Featuring members of Verse and Defeater, Love Letter are the latest powerhouse to join this esteemed lineage.

Everyone Wants Something Beautiful is an open window into insecurity and self-awareness. It is a deep-dive into generational trauma, its different forms, and the ways it can be projected onto others. We share a commitment to crafting music that is honest and powerful--that reflects our friendships, views, and shared musical journey over two decades. We believe every note and word must carry meaning and purpose. The musical vision for this record was to create a compelling backdrop for captivating and emotional storytelling. It's honest, mature, and carries deep personal meaning for each member.

Guitarist Jay Maas (Defeater) has also produced countless records for other bands at Getaway Recordings in Massachusetts, including Bane, Counterparts, Title Fight and more. After being behind the scenes on so many quintessential records, Maas is back at the helm. "Having produced records for two decades now I've had the chance to work with thousands of artists, I'm grateful that this was my opportunity to pull together some of my favorite people who also happen to be extremely talented musicians."

Maas tapped fellow founding member of Defeater, Andrew Reitz, to play drums along with guitarist Matthew Spence and fellow engineer and bassist Dave Alcan. The result is high-octane instrumentation paired with the poignant yet biting lyrics and vocals of Quinn Murphy (VERSE).

The debut LP's first single "Misanthropic Holiday or Vacation" sounds like both warning and indictment, exploring ways we are expected to deal with the human condition in modern society. It seems to blur the lines of perseverance and begrudged surrender, crescendoing into a cathartic release that makes one feel both possessed and furious. It's hard to stay sitting by the end of it.

There's a notable freedom in the band's songwriting, and their desire to push the limits of where heartfelt, emotive and heavy music can go is apparent with every note and word. Matched by a charged live show, Love Letter is sure to turn heads of fans of hardcore, post-hardcore, screamo and beyond. Everyone Wants Something Beautiful is available for pre-order now.

DROUGHT "EP"

7"EP - $7.00
7" UPC NUMBER: 724399772545
STREET DATE: 6/14/24
CAT#: IOD-65
LABEL: Iodine Recordings

DROUGHT believes a better world is possible. The Bay Area band pulls inspiration from their personal lives and the spaces they inhabit, harkening back to the intimate DIY spaces where communities are built and confessional songwriting meets crowds that take part in their emotional catharsis. Their spirited performances have fostered new fans across the West Coast.

The quintet hardcore veterans formed in 2022, pulling from their diverse musical influences and ethnic identities to push a familiar sound in new directions. Although some members spent over a decade away from music, DROUGHT pulls no punches on their debut “EP,” which they recorded with Ryan Ellery (Mom Jeans, Self Defense Family).

“EP” explores the struggles of loss and the rites of adulthood in increasingly precarious times. They wrote “Oh Javelin,” for instance, while guitarist RJ Rabe was battling cancer and drummer Ray Avila’s father was ill, grappling with the existential question of how we spend our short lives.

Upon digital release in 2023, the three-track EP turned more than a few heads with its familiar-yet-wholly-new stylings perfect for fans of bands like Touché Amoré, Piano Becomes the Teeth, and mewithoutYou. Now DROUGHT will be releasing a 7” pressing of “EP” on Iodine Recordings for the first time later this year.

“When I was young, nothing felt more comforting than playing a record, poring over the liner notes and feeling less alone,” says vocalist Viggy Ram. “And while releasing it digitally was exciting, it felt fleeting. When someone gets a record or goes to a show, you're actually giving your art to them—the ephemeral becomes real. With this vinyl release, we hope these songs keep you company when you need them to.”

"With a sonic palette pulling from both classic screamo and post-hardcore, Drought are clearly aiming to capture a certain spirit." - No Echo

Jonah Matranga has been making music for over 30 years. A prolific artist, he has become an enduring institution in the scene with a devoted fan base, rich lineage, and varied music career. Jonah has often straddled the line between the underground and mainstream. He's worked with indie labels like Jade Tree and majors such as Atlantic, having fronted the bands FAR, NEW END ORIGINAL, and GRATITUDE.

His music has influenced bands from Deftones to Blink-182, and he was there for emo and post-hardcore giants in their earliest beginnings--taking bands such as Thursday and Dashboard Confessional on tour. Simply put, the scene cannot be separated from Jonah's art.

Jonah has always written from the heart and performed in an intimate way that few others have accomplished. From basements to massive festivals, he brings the same energy to them all: raw honesty and an ability to make every show unique and personal. This is most apparent in Jonah's solo and collaborative project ONELINEDRAWING. Jonah's solo performance has always been about connecting with fans in an intimate setting, where they often perform with only a guitar and R2D2 sidekick.

Sketchbook is the latest release from ONELINEDRAWING, featuring a collection of songs from Jonah's early solo years, 1999 - 2001. The album features originals and renditions of the likes of 7 Seconds and Jawbox, as well as the Sensefield split honoring the late Jon Bunch
(Sensefield / Further Seems Forever). The LP also includes liner notes and zine by Norman Brannon (Texas is the Reason / New End Original).

Sketchbook exists as both a time capsule and thank you letter to fans and music itself--a combination of the period in which Jonah first embarked on his solo journey and a celebration of the vitality that music and community not only affords him but all of us.

"Onelinedrawing, is a diarist at heart, both in his music and in his daily life, and, man, does he ever rip his heart out and show it to you in his songs. A loose, free-roaming approach to confessional songwriting that pushes his music well beyond the normal sad singer/songwriter clichés." -- PITCHFORK

Stretch Arm Strong "The Revealing"

LABEL: Iodine Recordings

After nearly two decades, kings of posi-hardcore Stretch Arm Strong are back with a pipebomb of an EP.

Formed in Columbia, South Carolina in 1992, Stretch Arm Strong quickly made a name for themselves in the world of hardcore with their frenetic musicianship and unflinching positivity that crossed boundaries of belief and genre. The band initially went on hiatus in 2008 but made a significant return at Furnace Fest 2021. The festival's energy was palpable, leading the band not only to reconnect with countless friends from shows over the years but also with each other, reminding them of how rewarding playing music in Stretch Arm Strong is.

It was only a matter of time before the question of coming back together to write new music would arise. Recording with Steve Evetts, who was initially slated to produce 1999's "Rituals of Life," turned out to be total kismet. Their combined chemistry shines through, displaying an energy that recalls their heaviest moments as a band. "It was really refreshing to put an exclamation mark on this thing," says guitarist David Sease. "We did it the way we wanted to, had a good time and expressed ourselves." The result of this is The Revealing, a true gem of a record and the model for what can be achieved on an EP.

From the outset, it doesn't sound like any time has passed since Stretch Arm Strong stopped. Opening track "The Mirror" slams forward with total ferocity and youthfulness, showcasing why they're still an important part of the scene. "Still Believe Part III" follows up on previous entries with an absolute crusher, concluding with a monster of a breakdown. On "Take a Stand," Stretch Arm Strong enlists Lou Koller from Sick of It All for a killer guest spot.

With six songs clocking in at under fifteen minutes, the EP's brevity is a testament to the lightning in a bottle Stretch Arm Strong captured by taking the stage once more. No longer being kids and now being full-fledged adults with families and worlds outside of music, the bond between Stretch Arm Strong and their love for playing is a testament to what this music means both for them and the countless listeners that have joined them throughout this time. It's a release that's worthy of the band's exceptional discography, and a record that can only exist with a once-in-a-lifetime friendship and focus that the band has.

"Will you die with your eyes open?"

Washington D.C.'s NØ MAN is a necessary and much-needed voice in modern hardcore. Formed in 2017, the four-piece punk band has been alchemizing the personal and the political from the jump. Composed of members from Majority Rule, the band's current aims go hand-in-hand with their past, sonically and thematically.

Their upcoming album Glitter and Spit is the band's third full-length LP, solidifying their furious hardcore into a weapon of a record. Album opener "Eat My Twin" twists and refracts a mid-tempo riff into a sonic hammer, cracking open the record's heaviness to come. Singer Maha Shami has fully come into her own as a frontperson, snarling out the most vicious vocals of her career on "Poison Darts."

As the daughter of refugees, returning home to Palestine included witnessing first-hand the casual atrocities inflicted on her family. Though written before the current conflict's boiling point, Glitter and Spit synthesizes the 70+ years of systemic violence carried out against Palestine and her own lived experiences. From school teachers and classmates telling her Palestine doesn't exist, to being humiliated by soldiers at checkpoints when she visited her family, these many moments fuel the album's lifeblood, coalescing on "Can't Kill Us All."

"They want to silence us," Shami said at a recent benefit show in D.C. "We will be louder. We aren't fucking going anywhere. Because Palestine will never die." Glitter and Spit is a much-needed fire of an album, fueled by the anxieties and anger of the now, erupting in a cathartic inferno.

The band's members Matt Michel (guitar/vocals), Pat Broderick (drums) and Kevin Lamiell (Bass) helped lay the foundation for hardcore and screamo in Majority Rule from 1996 to 2004. Alongside the band, vocalist Maha Shami has been a longtime friend, giving a "cameo" guest vocal performance on Majority Rule's "Packaged Poison" in 2004. When Majority Rule reunited in 2017 to perform multiple benefit shows, it ignited a desire to keep creating, and no one was better equipped to step in as front person than Shami.

Their energy and spirit have brought them together on tour with bands like Portrayal of Guilt, Darkest Hour, FAIM, Entry and more. In 2023 they collaborated with former tourmates and fellow iconoclasts The HIRS Collective on the song "Sweet Like Candy." They've also contributed to Secret Voice's (the label of Touche Amore frontman Jeremy Bolm) compilation Balladeers, Redefined.

Glitter and Spit was recorded and mixed by Matthew Michel at Viva Studio, and mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege.

Unsufferable "Unsufferable"

7"EP - $7.00
STREET DATE: 3/1/24
CAT#: IOD-55
LABEL: Iodine Recordings

Formed in early 2023, Unsufferable features Robert Fish (108, Ressurection, The Judas Factor, etc.), Dave Buschemeyer (Omen Astra, New Day Rising, Spread the Disease, etc.), and Ryan McInturff (The Fault of Man, Bloodjinn, etc.). Loud, heavy, and unrelenting; Unsufferable creates a soundtrack for the collision of one's aspiration for a free and loving world against the reality of a world seemingly determined to destroy itself and any sense of humanity and compassion that remains.

In the spring of 2023, Unsufferable recorded a 2-song self-titled ep. Enemy of the State offers an unapologetic challenge to those who seek to mandate what a woman can and cannot do with her body. "Picking rights off, one by one, it's easy to feel free until you're the one." stands as a reminder that the assault on a woman's right to choose is but the beginning. The second song, Revisionist, makes the case that, as a society, we cannot heal or prosper until we acknowledge and learn from our blood-soaked history.

Unsufferable recently partnered with Iodine Recordings to release their self-titled EP followed by an LP, which will be recorded over the coming months and released in 2024.

Horsewhip "Consume and Burn"

LP - $17.25 / CASSETTE - $7.00
LP UPC: 724399772194
STREET DATE: 11/10/23
CAT#: IOD-46
LABEL: Iodine Recordings

Spawned in the dark swamp-scapes of Tampa Bay, Horsewhip has established itself as one of the most formidable and heaviest underground acts in hardcore. The environment that shaped them resonates in their sound -- dark, ugly and furious.

Their new full-length LP Consume and Burn is an uncompromising sonic odyssey. Horsewhip merges together the darkest corners of hardcore punk, screamo, and metal into their own vision of annihilation. Comprised of members of Reversal of Man, Combatwoundedveteran, Sutek Conspiracy and a myriad of other acts, it's an album that shows the band's pedigree in writing heavy music. But more than anything, there's a clear hunger to push the genre forward with each song.

Horsewhip shows moments of dissonance and unexpected beauty amid the oppressive weight of their sound. Songs like "Buried" offer brief respites of melody to create a forlorn sense of dread before redoubling their efforts. The aptly titled "Pain" shows its subject matter through multiple lenses, opening with a reflective riff before plummeting into breakneck speeds and full-throated chaos. Their strength lies in the raw, unadulterated fury that few can truly tap into.

The band's punishing new focus is thanks to a change in lineup, adding Dave Teten on guitar and allowing for a delta in riffage, as well as moving Shaun Drees to main vocals and Jeff Howe on back up vox. Consume and Burn calls to mind His Hero Is Gone and Disfear at their most disgusting, or Neurosis at a sped-up RPM. Each member is a master of their craft, drums guitar and bass all synchronizing into an aural mugging of heaviness. It's a testament to the depth and richness that can be found in anger, and why hardcore is at its best when it's mean.

Consume and Burn was tracked and mixed by John Howard at War House Recordings and Mastered by Will Killingsworth at Dead Air Studios. Album art by Christopher Norris at Steak MTN.

Dead Bars "Regulars"

LP - $14.00
LP UPC: 724399772392
STREET DATE: 11/3/23
CAT#: IOD-54
LABEL: Iodine Recordings

The Seattle Punk quartette returns with "Regulars"! Produced by Jack Endino (Nirvana, Soundgarden, Mudhoney). "11 Emotional singalong anthems - perfect for screaming along after you've had a beer, or five." -- KERRANG! Iodine Recordings is excited to present the second pressing of Dead Bars' 2019 sold out release on three new variants!

Dead Bars began in Seattle when punk drummer John Maiello ditched the sticks, picked up a guitar and started writing short blasts of no-bs-power-punk-rock in 2013. Soon after, NJ punk drummer C.J. Frederick joined to play drums and guitar. They quickly recorded and released five 7-inches, toured all over & made festival appearances, and eventually recorded their debut album, Dream Gig in C.J.'s home kitchen which saw a release in 2017. At the time, DIY punk zine Razorcake wrote of the album, "Dead Bars make something impossible to duplicate look so simple and attainable."

The next phase of the band introduced Jon Oddo from Kansas City on bass guitar. The three started making their next album Regulars which was released in 2019. Shortly after, Elliot Thordarson and Paul Davis came in to fill out the lineup on guitar and drums respectively. The group continues to consistently release new singles, mixtapes, live material, and most recently a new EP titled Sinkhole that is packed with "bruised romantic tunefulness," according to Stereogum.

2023 marks the 10-year anniversary of the group and starts the next phase of the Dead Bars story. The future is unwritten. The family is growing, and the universe is vast. Dead Bars Forever.

Garrison "A Mile in Cold Water"

LP - $17.25
LP UPC: 724399772187
STREET DATE: 10/27/23
CAT#: IOD-34
LABEL: Iodine Recordings

Garrison was born in Boston during the heyday of the prolific late '90s post-hardcore scene. Their cohort featured heavy hitters like Piebald, Cave In and Converge. Following in the footsteps of bands like Quicksand, Drive Like Jehu, and Texas is the Reason, Garrison drew from many influences to create a hyper-melodic sound that ranged from hardcore to emo, all without fitting neatly into any genre. They executed a complex and unique sound, seamlessly combining technical guitar riffs, melodic vocals, and heavy breakdowns in a way that few bands were able to achieve.

Garrison toured relentlessly, playing regularly alongside iconic bands of the era such as The Get Up Kids, Hot Water Music, Taking Back Sunday, and New Found Glory. Shortly after forming, the band found themselves signed to Revelation Records where they released their first debut LP "A Mile in Cold Water." The LP was well received among fans and critics and made a place for itself as a notable release for the post-hardcore movement. The album opens with "After the Fight," which immediately hooks you with its melody, fast tempo, and emotional breakdowns, highlighting the band's hardcore roots and complex style. The LP rises with heavier post-hardcore moments such as "The Dumbest Angel" and falls with several softer emo ballads, most notably on the somber closer "Favorite Goodbye Fuck."

Though Garrison went on to release numerous albums on Revelation Records and Iodine Recordings, "A Mile in Cold Water" remained their most significant and important release. While Garrison never broke in the same way that many of their peers did, this record clearly paved the way forward for many bands that followed in the post-hardcore and emo scenes.

Produced by Kurt Ballou (Converge) at God City Studio in 2001, Ballou returned in 2023 to completely remix the album to really make these songs shine the way they always intended to sound. Remastered by Jack Shirley (Quicksand, Joyce Manor) at The Atomic Garden. Six Going on Seven "Self-Made Mess"

LP - $17.25
LP UPC: 724399772231
STREET DATE: 10/27/23
CAT#: IOD-40
LABEL: Iodine Recordings

Self-Made Mess is the debut album from Boston's indie rock/emo band Six Going On Seven. Out of print for over 25 years, this highly influential album helped define a genre that bridged the gap between hardcore influenced emo and indie-rock, with its complex bass and guitar harmonies and sincere vocals. Often referred to as a "band's band", Six Going on Seven came up alongside many of the household names we still discuss from the era: Jimmy Eat World, Hot Water Music, The Get Up Kids, sharing the stage with them and many others. Originally released on Some Records in 1997 and produced by Brian McTernan at Salad Days Studio, it is being presented on a limited-edition vinyl pressing with all new artwork and remastered by Jack Shirley (Quicksand, Joyce Manor) at The Atomic Garden.

"self-made mess was our first full-length, the culmination of 3 friends woodshedding/gigging around boston in early days. follow me here: i drove to boston in fall of 1994, we played our first show in january of '95, released a 7" the following year & made 'self-made mess' summer of '96 - this one was recorded by our friend brian mcternan after demoing over 9 songs the year prior with another great engineer (who abruptly moved to los angeles to make a record with the rolling stones -- true story) faithful to our live sound, youth (lost on the young) recorded on a shoestring budget in a small new jersey town (that, a story for another day) 10 songs remastered for your listening pleasure, enjoy." xo/ six going on seven

The Iron Roses "The Iron Roses"

LP - $17.25
LP UPC: 724399772316
STREET DATE: 10/20/23
CAT#: IOD-45
LABEL: Iodine Recordings

The Iron Roses are a passionate, unique, and beautiful group of people making music that we hope will change the world. Fueled by the injustices of our current times - their songs are the kind of protest anthems that only a group of seasoned musicians could make. Still angry, still driven, and still screaming -- this is a band that will never give up the fight.

It takes serious talent to write and sing songs that sound angry while the music lifts your spirits. So much of political punk is abrasive and unpleasant. No hooks. No melodies. But other times the words sound incongruent with emotionless and insipid music. The Iron Roses manage something rare and commanding with music that lifts the heart coupled powerfully with lyrics that express fury and resentment of the current world. Punk as a genre has been so commodified and diluted over the last decades that it seems to be ever increasingly hard to find bands that resonate this way. That sing and play with such intensity that their authenticity cannot be questioned. That prove that true punk is alive and well and can have you dancing around your kitchen singing along at the top of your voice.

Yes, we can discuss their pedigree, most notably their frontperson Nathan Gray (of Boysetsfire), and their relentless touring and political activism. But none of those things matter if the songs don't connect with the listener. And this collection of songs are going to do just that. From the opening notes of the first song the cards are on the table. The objective is clear -- The Iron Roses are putting to words and music all the thoughts you've had these last few dark years. With the worldwide political climate leaning further and further from the left. With rights for many being limited and destroyed. With no end in sight. We need bands like The Iron Roses giving us a soundtrack to fight. Songs to pour our anger and frustration into when we sing along - just as they did when they wrote and recorded them.

The beauty of seeing these six individuals singing their truth is astounding. Watching them grow from strength to strength in the last few years it is unsurprising that this record is the outcome. They, and their songs, represent such power, love, and passion -- something that we need more than ever in this world today.

Garrison & Orange Island "Songs from a Central Massachusetts Mill Town"

7"EP - $7.00
7"EP UPC: 724399772378
STREET DATE: 10/6/23
CAT#: IOD-52
LABEL: Iodine Recordings

Hailing from small towns in Central Massachusetts, both Garrison and Orange Island shared a similar history coming up in the music scene. They shared influences, stages, equipment, and even occasionally members. Even though both bands took their different paths, they always shared a friendship and common roots having come up in the time of the Worcester Space and the St. John's Gym in Clinton. In 2003, while both bands were in the studio working on new albums, Iodine Recordings proposed the idea of a split where they covered each other's songs. These two songs were the result, and although the record never saw the light of day, we are excited to present it now, almost 20 years later, on vinyl for the first time. Both songs were remastered by Jack Shirley (Quicksand, Joyce Manor) at The Atomic Garden, and the Garrison track was remixed by Ethan Dussault (On the Might of Princes, Smoke or Fire) at New Alliance Studio. It is being presented as a limited edition pressing on transparent red vinyl, hand numbered out of 250 copies.

Both Garrison and Orange Island embody the best parts of late-90s emo and post-hardcore. Garrison covers Orange Island's "Stand Up, State Your Name" from "Everything You Thought You Knew" and Orange Island covers Garrison's "Recognize and Opportunity" from "Be a Criminal."

TRACK LISTING:

  1. Garrison - Stand Up, State Your Name
  2. Orange Island - Recognize an Opportunity

Best Ex "With A Smile"

LP - $17.25
LP UPC: 724399772293
STREET DATE: 10/6/23
CAT#: IOD-35
LABEL: Iodine Recordings

The heart of singer-songwriter Mariel Loveland has always been her DIY spirit. As a teenage poet, she taught herself guitar in an attempt to put her words to music, writing her first songs in the margins of her notebook during math class. Not long after, with little more than a rusted-out van and a handful of home recordings, the songwriter hit the road with Candy Hearts, a wide-eyed punk band rooted in early ‘00s nostalgia.

Within two short years, Candy Hearts went from playing in basements across the East Coast to sharing the stage with pop punk heavyweights like Man Overboard, New Found Glory, and Weezer. Math class became MTV and the microphones she set up in her mother’s basement became an LA recording studio. After a stint on Vans Warped Tour, Loveland found herself wondering: what happens after your childhood dreams come true? It turns out, you start all over again. Enter: Best Ex.

With her solo endeavor, Loveland has managed to maintain the diary-like introspection and biting sarcasm of previous releases, swapping out energetic guitars for fuzzed-out synths and dreamy acoustics. Her previous two EPs—Ice Cream Anti-Social (2017) and Good At Feeling Bad (2020)—were met with critical acclaim from publications like Billboard and Alternative Press, even landing airplay on BBC Radio 1. After inking a new record deal, Loveland is gearing up for Best Ex’s full-length debut.

“With a Smile” is full of sardonic emo-tinged indie-pop songs about breakup and heartache. The album is a concept album about the ways in which the world tells women to smile. "We’re expected to be a million things, but one of those is always pleasant in public. We’re supposed to suck up our issues with our mental health (lest we get labeled hysterical or over-emotional). We’re expected to shrug off the injustices we see in the world. We’re expected to just smile through our own abuse and never say a word. And of course, sometimes we smile for good reason. We fall in love, people make us laugh, the sunshine in the summer feels healing. Good things do happen, there is still beauty in the world. I’m not a total cynic, I’m just an exhausted introvert." - Mariel Loveland / Best Ex

California's melodic-punk outfit Audio Karate return with their first studio recordings in almost twenty years! The band reunited in early 2018 following the reissue of their two classic LPs "Space Camp" and "Lady Melody". They later released two albums worth of previously unreleased material on "Malo" and "¡Otra!" and got back on the road for festival appearances and playing with the likes of Descendents and other punk legends. The band quickly realized that playing together was an important part of their lives, and they went into the studio to record the new song "A Show of Hands" in 2022, while also re-recording their song "A Monster in Disguise", adding some much needed production work, making it a much more powerful song. This limited edition 7-inch EP is being presented by Iodine Recordings, which includes beautiful artwork by Jeff Caudill (Gameface) and photography from the studio and recent tour dates, and was mastered by Jack Shirley (Joyce Manor, Jeff Rosenstock). These songs showcase the power, and precision of Audio Karate's song writing, which masterfully strikes a balance of hyper-melodic punk rock, emo, and post-hardcore.

There Were Wires "His Talk, Her Teeth"

7"EP - $6.00
7"EP UPC: 724399772255
STREET DATE: 5/12/23
CAT#: IOD-13
LABEL: Iodine Recordings

Unlikely but overwilling, the embryonic form of Boston’s There Were Wires (formed on Martha’s Vineyard in 1999) traversed every basement, rec hall and dive club in the city to blow out speakers and vocal chords alike with their explosive brand of hardcore punk. Their blend of harshly emotive dissonance and punchy, anthemic songs pulled inspiration from bands like Converge, Portraits of Past, and Unbroken. Though it’s true that TWW’s live shows were a powder keg of chaos, the true gooey center of the band revealed an honest vulnerability that belied the tough crowd of contemporaries, which gained them a small but devoted cult following in the New England scene.

After several self-released demo tapes and CD’s, TWW teamed up with Iodine Recordings for a professional version of their debut S/T record (including a live radio set), as well as their final 2003 record ‘Somnambulists’, which tread into darker, moodier, and more atmospheric territory than ever before. The boys disbanded shortly after this release with a final show in 2004, which led to the formation of the bands Disappearer, Doomriders, and No Flowers.

This limited edition 7"EP was originally released in 2004 and is now available again with an alternate cover, hand numbered out of 100. Features the track "His Talk, Her Teeth" from Somnambulists backed with a cover of Sonic Youth's "Tunic". Recorded and produced by Matt Squire (Underoath, The Amity Affliction, The Used). Includes remastered digital download code.
