Burner "No One Is Coming To Save Us"

LP - $19.40 / CD - $12.00
STREET DATE: 09/25/26
CAT#: CRR264
LABEL: Church Road

Across these 11 blistering tracks, Burner explores bold new soundscapes, touching on serene post-metal hooks and a cinematic atmosphere that only adds to their seasoned experience in creating captivating and punishing music. In collaborating with iconic vocalists Matthew K. Heafy (Trivium), Josh Middleton (Sylosis) and Anthony Lucero (Cult Leader), Burner take a striking step forward to claim new territory while consolidating their extreme and unique sound into the heaviest and bleakest incarnation of their craft yet.

Vocalist Harry Nott elaborates on the themes behind the new album:

“If It All Returns To Nothing looked outwards to the world’s chaos throughout history, No One Is Coming To Save Us instead looks inwards at its proposed cause; humanity’s violent, animalistic nature, begging us for change. This is an album about human behaviour: that people create endless cycles of violence by repeating the mistakes of the past, forging a brutal history that we fail to learn from.

But, at the same time, the album is about questioning whether we can ever get past those sins and repetitions. This is a record that is mournful as much as it is angry and engaged. It longs to bitterly recall the moments of greatness and sacrifice in our shared history that created the better world we currently destroy. It longs to look back at these moments for inspiration and optimism, at a time where it feels like hope is running thin.

The album is also a struggle for hope, not just that humanity can overcome hatred and violence, but that we can look back on our greatest moments and take courage to build a better world. No One Is Coming To Save Us reflects this duality in its title: that no one will come to save us from the violence and tragedy we create as part of our humanity. But it also proposes that it’s up to us to change – to overcome a violent human nature and usher in a better tomorrow.”

Burner possesses the incredible ability to weave death metal, hardcore and fractions of black metal into their calculated disorder. With most bands having palpable influences, Burner impresses further by wearing theirs with a sense of real diversity, touching everything from Trap Them, Darkest Hour, and Gatecreeper to Converge, Bolt Thrower, The Acacia Strain and more.

‘No One is Coming to Save Us’ is the soundtrack to the destruction of humanity - brace yourselves!

It reminds us to look after each other” - Kulk

Arise From Worms "A Bleeding Tree Hanging Self Destruction"

LP - $19.40 / CD - $12.00
STREET DATE: 07/10/26
CAT#: CRR262
LABEL: Church Road

Arise From Worms is the brainchild of guitarist Sonny Lombardozzi. Not just a musical project, but an outlet for him to push the envelope of extreme music, challenging the listener to leave behind preconceptions of genre limitations and to approach the music with an open mind. In his exploration of the musical outer limits, he is joined by fellow seasoned pros Steve Tucker (Morbid Angel) on vocals, Flo Mounier (Cryptopsy) on drums and Derek Sherinian (Dream Theater, Steve Vai, Malmsteen, Kiss) on keys. An allstar line up that grabs the attention of any metal/progressive music enthusiast.

The project began whilst Sonny was on tour with Morbid Angel. Sonny explained the concept of the band to Steve Tucker, who was intrigued and fully committed to getting involved. Sonny wasted no time and began handwriting transcripts for what would become the earliest Arise From Worms material, whilst on tour.

Once off the road, plans for the band were fully cemented with Flo and Derek joining the fold. As a taste of things to come, they released their 2022 self-titled EP which quickly sold out of its first vinyl pressing. This EP featured the track ‘Axes of the Void II’ with guest vocalist Dallas Toler-Wade (ex-Nile).

Having laid the foundations, The band is now ready to release their defining statement with their debut studio album ‘A Bleeding Tree Hanging Self Destruction’, set for release on July 10th via Church Road Records.

Fans of all the musicians involved will be satisfied by this release, but not due to knowing what to expect, but by hearing something completely new and ground breaking. Sonny has made it his mission to tap deep into some of the world's forgotten music, and lesser known theories, scales and harmonies. For people with musical theory understanding, Sonny has incorporated the double harmonic major, F#Lydian #2 #6 and the lonian Aug#2 into his compositions. Combining jazz fusion with classical music theory has given the band its own sound of unique harmonies and odd time signatures.

If you're looking for music to take you to new places and to question your understanding of song structures, then look no further. ‘A Bleeding Tree Hanging Self Destruction’ is here to break your mind wide open and leave you to pick up the pieces. Set for release via Church Road Records on July 10th.

Witchsorrow "The Devil And All His Works"

LP - $19.40 / CD - $12.00
STREET DATE: 07/03/26
CAT#: CRR263
LABEL: Church Road

For Witchsorrow, doom metal is an obsession. Slaves to Black Sabbath, and proudly continuing the heavy work of the genre’s high priests Cathedral, Reverend Bizarre, Electric Wizard, Candlemass and Saint Vitus, the Hampshire-based trio’s fanaticism has made them one of the undergrounds leading lights.

Forged in 2006 around the core duo of Necroskull (vocals/guitar) and Emily Witch (bass), across four albums their sound has retained the traditions of doom metal – and here metal is just as important a word as doom – while carving a place all of their own within it. Invoking the dread and despair of Sabbath’s signature song, their music is also that of dyed-in-the-wool metal maniacs, proud and unashamed.

It’s found its share of acolytes as well, having shared stages with heroes like Electric Wizard and Vitus, as well as performing their hymns to the void at Download, Roadburn, ArcTanGent, Desertfest and countless others.

As they enter their twentieth year, the fire has not dimmed on their fifth offering, The Devil And All His Works. Eight years since the true metal attack of 2018’s highly-acclaimed Hexenhammer, even as the swan song for longtime drummer Wilbrahammer, it finds the band sharpening their claws and delving even deeper into the depths of doom metal than before. From the mighty, organ-infused opener Omnia Finiuntur, to Bacchus’ celebration of sin, the fist-raised chug of Hades Chains (featuring guest roars from Serena Cherry of Svalbard/Noctule) or the epic A Quintessence Of Dust (featuring Employed To Serve’s Sammy Urwin shredding a killer lead), fans of this stuff in its most arcane, heavy and occult-edged form will fall under its spell.

“I wanted everything to be as pure as possible,” asserts Necroskull. “Everything had to be total doom, to an even higher degree than before. I’m still as proud to call ourselves a doom metal band as I ever was. I don’t know anything else.”

The album’s lyrics and title – taken from an occult book by legendary author Dennis Wheatley – come from the idea that The Devil is present in everything, and about knowing when to let him in and when to cast him out.

“I noticed when I was writing the lyrics that there was something of him there in everything I was coming up with as a metaphor for things both good and bad” explains Necroskull. “I’ve previously written cautionary tales about people getting into Faustian pacts without realising what they’re dealing with, but here there was a different balance. Bacchus is about the joy of decadence and sin,but there’s also things that touch on impermanence and loss and feeling like there’s a dark force at the edge of reality out to hide misfortune for you to trip on.”

With new drummer Scott ‘Doom’ Taylor (Vnder A Crvmbling Moon, Garganjua) now on board, the crusade continues apace. On the anthemic headbanger In Triumph We Rot!!!, Witchsorrow sing of a life dedicated to doom, both as a passion and simply an unavoidable calling. Two decades into their mission, The Devil And All His Works is their most captivating sermon yet.

Since the release of their debut album 'Hello, Boil Brain', Bristol-based art-rock outfit Sans Froid have steadily earned acclaim from underground tastemakers including BBC Radio 6 Music, Prog Magazine, LOUD WOMEN, and Noizze, alongside standout live appearances at ArcTanGent, Simple Things, Strangeforms, and Portals, plus support slots for alternative heavyweights Maybeshewill and Foxing.

On this record the listener can find soul, jazz, folk, progressive rock, math rock, and much, much more. Haggard Cat "THE PAIN THAT ORBITS LIFE"

LP - $20.65 / CD - $12.00
STREET DATE: 05/08/26
CAT#: CRR260
LABEL: Church Road

Haggard Cat are a critically acclaimed British post hardcore/alt-rock duo, composed of drummer/backing vocalist Tom Marsh and vocalist/guitarist Matt Reynolds. Both members are seen as core pillars of the UK rock and metal scene, having initially made names for themselves as members of the cult band Heck (formerly Baby Godzilla) who were active from 2009-2017. Haggard Cat started as a side project for Tom and Matt, but soon became their main focus when Heck disbanded in 2017. Haggard Cat’s aim was to maintain the same lawless rock and roll energy that Heck had, but with more of a laser sharp focus on diverse song writing and infectious hooks.

Haggard Cat laid a blueprint of what was to come with their demo record ‘Charger’ in 2013, but it wasn’t until they released their 2018 album ‘Challenger’ (Earache Records) that the band made their first proper musical statement to the world. The record immediately caught the attention of the press, with Metal Hammer describing them as “a balls-out, batshit, rock ’n’ roll freight train”.

The band followed with their second LP ‘Common Sense Holiday’ (Earache Records) in March 2020, right on the cusp of the world coming to a grinding halt. Fortunately the record was still potent enough to cut through the turmoil happening at the time, as Kerrang Magazine would note that “Common Sense Holiday, cemented the duo’s reputation as one of the UK’s premier noisemakers”.

Emerging from lock down, the band didn’t waste any time and immediately set about self-releasing their 2021 EP ‘Cheer Up’, followed by an extensive touring schedule, where the duo melted the faces of audiences anywhere that they set foot on stage. How two people manage to create such a hypnotic racket is truly an impressive feat, and because of this Haggard Cat have managed to garner an incredible reputation as a live band. This reputation has awarded them an impressive gig CV, with blistering sets at prestigious festivals such as Glastonbury, Boomtown, 2000 Trees and ArcTanGent. They’ve also shared the stage with legendary names such as Dead Kennedys, Enter Shikari, The Bronx, Mutoid Man and many others.

Aside from their electrifying performances, it’s the band's down to earth charm that has won them their audience. When you see Haggard Cat live you will see smiles radiating from both Tom and Matt on stage. This energy is mirrored by the crowd and creates a sense that everyone’s here for the same purpose, to hear some earth shattering rock music and to cut loose together.

For their highly anticipated third full-length album, ‘The Pain That Orbits Life’ , Haggard Cat have teamed up with double Grammy award-winning producer Adrian Bushby to create their most accomplished body of work to date. The album sees the band draw on more progressive influences, featuring sprawling epics and industrial synths along with huge choruses and the more adrenaline-charged moments that they have become well known for.

Armed for Apocalypse "THE EARTH IS BREATHING BENEATH ME"

LP - $19.40 / CD - $12.00
STREET DATE: 04/24/26
CAT#: CRR57
LABEL: Church Road

‘The Earth is Breathing Beneath Me’ isn’t a metaphor. It’s a realisation that the ground beneath our feet is alive, and we’re all just passengers on its pulse. It’s that hum of dread and wonder that defines Armed For Apocalypse’s fourth full-length album: a towering, grooved-out, post-metal monolith carved from grief, power, and purpose.

Formed in Chico, California between longtime friends Nick Harris (drums) and Cayle Hunter (guitar), Armed For Apocalypse is a what-if turned war machine. Over the years, the band has endured enough shakeups and setbacks to bury most acts: relocations, divorces, day jobs, family changes and not to mention complete lineup overhauls. But where others fractured, AFA sharpened.

Now based in Portland, Oregon, the current lineup consisting of drummer Harris, guitarist/vocalist Nate Burman, bassist Charlie Fischer and vocalist Hunter - the band has found rare continuity and it shows. ‘The Earth is Breathing Beneath Me’, recorded once again with Kurt Ballou at God City Studios, is the sound of a band not just surviving, but thriving in their chaos. The guitars sound raw and intimidating. The drums hit like wrecking balls while the bass shakes the very ground you stand on. Burman’s vocals slice through the noise with a sense of finality - desperate, powerful, unafraid to hope, even while drowning.

“This album is bleak,” the band says. "It’s got dissonance and aggression and every song carries a sense of melancholy and density beneath the surface. But there are also moments of meditation, and even signs of optimism woven in that make it feel like a true reflection of who we are as people.”

Opening track Drown sets the tone, a flag planted deep in the soil, daring you to stay. From there, the band moves with purpose through blast beats, dynamic sludge, ambient stretches, and raw-throated catharsis. This isn’t a genre exercise. It’s a record written by a band with doom and hardcore in their DNA playing sludge, or maybe something else entirely. What it is, more than anything, is honest.

Offstage, the members of AFA have wildly differing interests, from yoga to culinary experimentation. What unites them is more than riffs, it’s brotherhood, therapy, a shared refusal to stop. “We’ve heard it our whole career,” they say. ‘You guys are too nice to be in a heavy band.’ But the music is why we’re happy. It’s how we stay alive.”

The Earth is Breathing Beneath Me isn’t just their best record, it’s their most vital. It’s not here to sell you on a scene or posture for the algorithm. It’s here to crush, connect, and release. If you’re ready for that, they’ll meet you at the edge of the world.

Since emerging in 2020, the band has carved out a reputation as one of the most exciting rising acts in heavy music, with support from BBC Radio 1, Kerrang! Radio and acclaimed rock and metal press such as Metal Hammer, Kerrang! and Alt Press.

2024 saw the band make their Download Festival debut, undertake their first UK headline tour, and secure huge support slots with powerhouse bands such as Skindred. Following the release of their EP “Echoes”, the band has enjoyed a busy schedule in 2025 - with appearances at 2000trees (main stage) and Alyx Holcombe’s MANTRA showcase.

In recent months, Mallavora have been popping up everywhere, from the stages of Boomtown and Burn It Down Festivals, to the catwalk at London Fashion Week where they provided the soundtrack to Unhidden's latest clothing range. Most recently, you may have heard vocalist Jessica’s incredible vocal abilities in an episode of BBC 1’s The Celebrity Traitors, a star-studded game show that features household names such as Stephen Fry, Alan Carr and Claudia Winkleman. Jess was called upon by the producers of the show to produce 'banshee-like’ wails, demonstrating her vocal range which stretches from beautiful high octave singing to the extremes of fry screaming.

All of Mallavora’s achievements have been leading to this moment: the announcement of their debut album 'What If Better Never Comes?'. Matador "Above, Below, and So"

LP - $20.65 / CD - $12.00
STREET DATE: 02/27/26
CAT#: CRR251
LABEL: Church Road

Matador return in 2026 with Above, Below and So, a towering new statement in epic psychedelic post-metal, slated for release on 27th February via Church Road Records. Expansive yet crushing, the album captures the band at their most ambitious, defined by moments of vast, foreboding atmosphere, cinematic scope and immersive sonic depth.

Originally conceived in 2019 by guitarist and vocalist James Kirk, Matador began as a largely solitary vision. Kirk wrote and produced the debut They Were Here Before Us almost entirely alone, enlisting outside help only for drum tracking. That foundation soon evolved into a full creative force when Kirk joined with drummer Scott Stronach and bassist Mark Ainsworth in 2020.

The trio’s chemistry was fully realised on their sophomore album The Surge (2021), recorded and engineered at Rain City Recorders by acclaimed producer Jesse Gander (Western Canadian Music Awards “Engineer of the Year”, two-time Juno Award recipient). The album struck a chord across the underground post-rock, post-metal and stoner scenes, earning features on influential discovery platforms such as Where Post Rock Dwells, 666MrDoom, Underrated Albums and Weedian.

With Above, Below and So, Matador push their sound further than ever before. The album sees the band diving deeper into technical, meticulously crafted compositions, blending delicate, haunting melodies with brutal doom-laden riffs and powerful, hypnotic rhythms. The result is a richly cinematic experience, both immersive and confrontational that draws the listener deeper into Matador’s evolving universe.

Above, Below and So stands as Matador’s most vivid and fully realised work to date: a formidable, atmospheric journey that cements their place at the forefront of modern psychedelic post-metal.

Believe in Nothing "Rot"

LP - $20.65 / CD - $12.00
STREET DATE: 10/31/25
CAT#: CRR254
LABEL: Church Road

Due for release on 31st October 2025 via Church Road Records, Rot is Believe In Nothing’s full-length debut and the culmination of their bleak creative vision. It chisels into granite their counter-intuitive approach to heaviness: equal parts chaos and control, volume and restraint, with layered textures collapsing under their own weight. Where earlier singles hinted at suffocating tension, Rot dives headlong into the abyss, using pressure, space, and psychological decay to conjure a world that feels like it’s been burning for years. The title track, “Rot”, already a staple in their live set, appears at the end of shows for a reason: a final, devastating statement that refuses to comfort. A cracked mirror held up to the slow, grinding death of the familiar which leaves no closure, only aftermath.

Mastiff "For All the Dead Dreams"

LP - $20.65 / CD - $12.00
STREET DATE: 10/24/25
CAT#: CRR255
LABEL: Church Road

Whether spreading plagues, turning the Earth to ash or teetering on the precipice of depression, you can always count on Kingston Upon Hull’s premier misery merchants Mastiff to ruin your day. Now well over a decade into their parade of embittered misanthropy, the East Yorkshire quintet have definitively burned their mark into the UK’s extreme music scene with a fistful of mangled hardcore and sludge riffs and an endless well of spite.

Mastiff’s reputation as a ferocious live entity only continues to grow, as they have spent the last few years racking up appearances at prestigious heavy music festivals like Bloodstock, Damnation, Incineration and DesertFest to name but a few, as well as sharing stages and touring with the likes of Avatar, Palm Reader, Conan, Black Tongue, Cult Leader, Calligram, Iron Monkey, Raging Speedhorn and many, many more.

As for recorded output, following two critically acclaimed albums on MNRK Heavy (High On Fire, The Callous Daoboys, Underoath, Darkest Hour etc), as well as their track ‘Acid Breather’ appearing in the multi-million-selling video game Cyberpunk 2077 and its Netflix anime spin-off Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, Mastiff have finally and proudly joined the hallowed roster of Church Road Records for the release of ‘For All The Dead Dreams’, a blistering five-song assault of pummelling and aggravated hardcore.

Once again recorded and mixed by the incredible Joe Clayton at Nø Studio and mastered by the legendary Brad Boatright at Audiosiege, ‘…Dead Dreams’ sees Mastiff at their most brutish, sounding like Nails, Harms Way and Gatecreeper thrown into a cement mixer and poured straight into your ears. If the band’s previous album ‘Deprecipice’ felt as blunt and ignorant as heavy music gets, revel in horror as Mastiff collectively grunt ‘Hold my beer’ and dish up 15 minutes of unrelenting and unforgiving punishment.

Malevich "Under a Gilded Sun"

LP - $20.65 / CD - $12.00
STREET DATE: 8/22/25
CAT#: CRR246
LABEL: Church Road

Malevich was formed in 2016 in Atlanta Georgia by Sasha Schilbrack-Cole, Josh McIntyre, Daniel DeSimone and original vocalist Will Turner. From their inception the band has upheld an impressive DIY work ethic. Keen to make things happen for themselves, Malvich recorded and self-released their debut album ‘Only The Flies’ in the same year they formed. This would be the only album to feature Will Turner on vocals.

After extensively touring the first LP, Will decided to leave the band in 2018. Enter Connor Ray, who would help take the band into their next chapter. Initially Connor joined as a standalone vocalist, releasing a split 7” with Iron Gag as his first outing with the band. Not long after this release, Connor also picked up guitar duties, resulting in the current and longest standing lineup of the project.

Since the current line up was cemented, the band have wasted no time in further making a name for themselves. 2019 saw the band release their sophomore album ‘Our Hollow’, followed by a 4-way split (2022) and the EP ‘Trembling and Dowsed’ (2024).

Throughout these recorded offerings the band has been relentlessly touring, covering almost the entirety of the USA, as well as performing shows in Canada and the UK.

Malevich has toured and played alongside notable bands like Immortal Bird, Great Falls, Planning for Burial, Primitive Man, Bell Witch, Thou, The Body, Lingua Ignota and Liturgy. They have also made appearances at festivals such as ZBR fest (2019, 2022), Red River Music Fest (2019), Wake Brewing's anniversary festival (2022) and Subterranean Dissonance Fest (2025).

Malevich also performed on Adult Swim's experimental live performance program 'Bloodfeast Presents' in 2019, a collaborative audiovisual effort featuring set dec elements created by both band members and Adult Swim staff.

With their upcoming LP ‘Under a Gilded Sun’, Malevich wanted it to be known that they weren’t making extreme music that was void of purpose. They have a strong message behind the intense music that they create. We live in a world where beauty has been defanged. The lack of teeth found on the thoughtful side of extreme music is concerning; hordes of reverb-soaked faux-black metal bands tremolo picking for the sake of selfish art and not anger. Malevich is angry. The band looks at the material world as it exists and condemns its violent, oppressive tendencies. They seek to contrast others that adopt trendy aesthetics but purposely avoid any kind of ethical stance outside of themselves.

In the half-decade since they released ‘Our Hollow’, the Atlanta-based quartet has taken their grind-tinged, Richmond-goes-Norway sound to a space as gorgeous as it is violent. ‘Under a Gilded Sun remains’ a visceral, blackened roar while managing to expand on the more subtle elements introduced in 2024’s ‘Trembling and Dowsed’ EP by embracing something unexpected in the world of extreme music: space.

Malevich uses restraint to shape their fury, letting the powerful, dissonant blur suddenly simmer in shallow waters of clean vocals and full-on slowcore passages. Even in these rare, quieter moments, the album never seems derivative or passive, the spittle from mouths foaming with rage soaking every note. They’ve excised the fascist core of Deathspell Omega and replaced it with a clean, post-whatever, Flenser-esque tonality. It’s the hushed whisper of lovers giving way to the sound of a collapsing government building. A balance of contradictions in corpse paint and an Orchid t-shirt.

Going into the writing and recording of Under a Gilded Sun, Malevich made an intentional turn toward melody, clarity, and sonic experimentation. While the band has always written from the intersection of disparate influences, this release showcases them actualizing a sound that is singular, complex , and confidently their own.

Malevich will announce ‘Under a Gilded Sun’ on June 25th and release the lead single ‘Blossom In Full Force’.

“We want to feature ‘Blossom In Full Force’ as the first outing as it does a lot of different things musically that really showcases our direction with this album. The different sections twist into themselves, it shows more dynamics, it features more synths and layers, and has an almost uplifting, cathartic ending to it that features all three of our vocalists. Lyrically it is in direct opposition to individualism as a culture. Whether we call it neoliberalism, Thatcherism, Reaganism, etc. there's an enormous pressure on people to see themselves and others as atomized individuals, detached from each other. You succeed in this system through cut throat competition and if other people struggle it is their own fault somehow. In reality we are so dependent on each other that our very cognitive ability to recognize our own existence is reliant on the recognition of the existence of others and their affirmation that we also exist to them. We are biologically social creatures that raise our children, we care for each other, and we get lonely in isolation. The very fact that we have language is a phenomenon of collective effort. At the same time individuals do still exist and the most authentic way to be as an individual is to recognize our social dependence while also affirming everyone's right to their own creative existence. “ - Malevich

LP - $20.65 / CD - $12.00
STREET DATE: 10/10/25
CAT#: CRR235
LABEL: Church Road

Terzij de Horde stands as a beacon of boundary-pushing black metal and hardcore intensity. Since their inception in 2009 the band has consistently built their reputation on a combination of complex, furious and dynamic songs and raging, emotional live shows. Rather than keeping audiences at a cold distance, Terzij de Horde forcefully pulls them close. The band’s music is unquestionably black metal - but their energy and attitude is closer to grind, hardcore punk and the extreme edges of screamo. Their performances are marked by an intensity that is both palpable and infectious, inviting the audience into a shared space of catharsis and reflection.

Terzij de Horde’s upcoming release ‘Our Breath Is Not Ours Alone’ builds on the power of previous work - adding more melodic intensity and openness to the band’s sound while increasing the fire and energy in each track. Lyrically, the new release will focus on the struggle to find the courage and responsibility to face the overwhelming odds of present day systems that erode the life and the soul of the world. The title is drawn from work by German sociologist Hartmut Rosa on resonance and alienation.

Indifferent Engine "Speculative Fiction"

LP - $19.40 / CD - $9.60
STREET DATE: 5/30/25
CAT#: CRR241
LABEL: Church Road

Indifferent Engine is a post-hardcore punk band from Cambridge, UK, known for their genre-defying sound and visceral live performances. Drawing inspiration from early hardcore, art punk, post-rock, ambient music, pulp science fiction and obsolete electronics, the band creates a soundscape that is as eclectic as it is intense.

Originally conceived as a solo project by frontman Adam Paul, Indifferent Engine evolved into a full band in 2019, bringing their unique blend of chaotic energy and experimental sound to stages across the UK. Their performances are a sensory experience, often featuring the largest rig of vintage CRT TVs in the UK live scene, bathing the stage in the soft, eerie glow of static. This visual backdrop, combined with Adam’s commanding stage presence — fluctuating between Mark E. Smith-esque monologues and raw, visceral screams — creates an emotional atmosphere that is equal parts unsettling and captivating.

Musically, Indifferent Engine weaves together haunting ambient synths and samples with the frenetic fervor of post-hardcore, crafting a dynamic presence that feels more like performance art than a traditional rock show. Their sound is a reflection of their diverse influences, merging nervous DIY hardcore with introspective post-metal elements to produce something wholly unique.

After their first EP, "Canis" (2021) - a raw statement of intent recorded in a derelict farmhouse between the lockdowns of 2020 - comes their first full length album "Speculative Fiction".

Wren "Black Rain Falls"

LP - $19.40 / CD - $9.60
STREET DATE: 2/21/25
CAT#: CRR233
LABEL: Church Road

For over a decade WREN have meticulously crafted a sound and aesthetic inspired by the complex nature of the lived human condition; being as cathartic as it is bleak. They aspire to connect with each person encountering their music, be it through recorded or live listening. In whatever way it is experienced the music is a visceral offering to its audience to take from it what they will.

The theme inherent throughout ‘Black Rain Falls’ is the shared grief of the band members. During the pandemic they tragically lost a close friend to suicide, and this record has served as some sort of way for them to navigate through the storm of loss. This is how the band in their own words described the album... "The new record is a crystallisation of the conceptual voice-giving to natural collapse, humanity's decline and the shadowed spectre that has imbued WREN since the beginning."

Since their inception WREN have maintained a strict independent ethos, collaborating on album releases with various UK labels (Gizeh Records, Astral Noize). WREN have played hundreds of shows across the UK and Europe with bands including Kowloon Walled City (USA), Inter Arma (USA), Unsane (USA), Fórn (USA), Moloch (UK), Birds In Row (FR) and more, and played at festivals such as Damnation, Arctangent, Desertfest, Incubate (NL) and Raw Power to name a few.

Grief Ritual "Collapse"

LP - $19.40 / CD - $9.60
STREET DATE: 1/31/25
CAT#: CRR230
LABEL: Church Road

GRIEF RITUAL are more miserable and even heavier than their name might suggest. Their punishing brand of metalcore twisting blackened metallic hardcore, and the crushing, slower sides of black and death metal to their extremities.

On debut album Collapse, the anger, frustration, and disenfranchisement they feel about the UK and wider world are laid bare. Human extinction, capitalism, genocide, ecocide, and the rise of populist right authoritarianism are explored in garish detail across ten tracks. Also put under the microscope are sociopolitical issues such as austerity, racism, misogyny, wealth inequality, gentrification, and eroding human rights, as first written about on their critically acclaimed debut EP Spiritual Disease.

Collapse has riffs, beats, and breakdowns that obliterate, and a bass tone fit to tear down the establishment. While dualling vocals from a wide spectrum of extreme metal, and the most sinister and punishing of matte black death metal, bustle to take centre stage across eleven tracks of despotic terror. Collapse was self-recorded, and mixed by the band, alongside Jake Murray (Ill Vision), at Just Noise Audio. With mastering provided by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege.

Collapse is the follow-up to self-released debut EP Spiritual Disease, which featured in Kerrang, Knotfest, Rock Sound, and, Metal Hammer, being shortlisted for their Album of the Year 2022, who said "Spiritual Disease screams its frustrations with the modern world through a loudspeaker of death metal and hardcore. The bludgeoning breakdowns are interspersed with Entombed-esque tremolo picking and low, guttural roars... (they) rage against the machine louder and more heavily than 99% of their genre peers."

The five-track EP, containing singles "Dissolution", "Telluric", and "Immurement", is twenty-minutes of grim, paralysing, cathartic, angry emotion, reminiscent of END, Harms Way, Nails, and early Napalm Death, and was recorded, mixed, and mastered by Joe Clayton (Pijn, Leeched, Curse These Metal Hands) at No Studio.

Such a thoughtful, driven, and honest approach has already led to the young band catching the attention of many, with festival appearances at Bloodstock, 2000 Trees, ArcTanGent, 80Trees, and Tech Fest. GRIEF RITUAL have also supported Knocked Loose, Terror, Gatecreeper, END, Fuming Mouth, Heriot, Wiegedood, Ithaca, Inter Arma, and Pupil Slicer, during this busy period, and they passed the one-hundred-show marker in early 2024.

Underdark "Our Bodies Burned Bright On Re-Entry"

LP - $19.40 / CD - $9.60
STREET DATE: 12/13/24
CAT#: CRR234
LABEL: Church Road

While still utilising a dreamlike and heavy mixture of black-metal, post-metal and shoegaze, Underdark's debut album also packs a renewed punch alongside a ferocity and intensity matched only by the innovative and engaging song structures.

Recorded & mixed with Misha Herring at Holy Mountain Studio (40 Watt Sun, Inhuman Nature, Idles, Spiritualised, Puppy) & mastered by Adam Gonsalves at Telegraph Mastering (Emma Ruth Rundle, Southern Lord Records, Power Trip, Mizmor), the album captures five tracks of intense & emotional progressive compositions, not limited by genre to create a tidal wave of sound; that shift in emotions, drowning you between sections of crushing blast beats and ear splitting vocals to blissful, atmospheric soundscapes that engulf you within them.

Lyrically the album covers personal issues such as addiction & psychosis, to inhumane border control & the shameless exploitation of the lower classes at the hands of landlords.

The band comment, 'despite numerous setbacks, pandemic related and otherwise, we're honoured to be working with some of the finest independent labels in their respective regions to realise a vision many years in the making. Our Bodies Burned Bright On Re-entry is the sum of our efforts in that time, we put everything we have into this record.'

STREET DATE: 11/29/24

Hidden Mothers is a progressive post-hardcore band from Sheffield, UK. Their long awaited debut album 'Erosion/Avulsion' is a record that features all the blast beats, driving riffs and impassioned screaming that Hidden Mothers have come to be known for, but is also drenched in atmosphere, haunting melody, and delicate emotion, thanks in no small part to Luke Scrivens' potent lyricism and his Jeff Buckley-esque singing voice. It may have taken a while to get here, but Hidden Mothers 2.0 will not disappoint.
