There’s a difficult balance in writing music that feels both heavy and delicate, but Los Angeles band Ha•zel manages it effortlessly throughout their self-titled debut EP. After releasing a single, “Eyes Meant 4 Me,” in early 2025, the band returns with five new tracks on their debut EP, arriving in fall 2026 via Sunday Drive Records.
Across the release, Ha•zel blends heavy, 00’s post-hardcore and ’90s alternative rock riffs with moments of restraint. Vocalist Julieta Burgos carries each song with a strong performance, weaving between English and Spanish with melancholic lyrics. The band knows when to pull back, allowing quietness and melodies to elevate Julieta’s voice.
Lead single “Piel Del Tierra” is the EP’s centerpiece, beginning with a slow burn before building into a massive, soaring chorus that captures everything Ha•zel does best. With only six songs to their name, Ha•zel has already established a distinct identity that is full of promise for what comes next.
