Lord Snow "Have You Heard of the High Elves"

LP - $17.25
STREET DATE: 6/5/26
CAT#: VIS032
LABEL: Persistent Vision

Chicago’s Lord Snow are standard-bearers in DIY, reaching a global albeit cult status by playing dense and technical screamo. Lord Snow began in 2011 through two sets of high school friends; bassist Steph Maldonado, guitarist Niko Zaglaras, drummer Erik Anderson, and vocalist An Lacy released an untitled demo EP and another called “Sovngarde.” Following Lacy’s departure in 2012, Maldonado became the band’s primary singer and Lord Snow released 3 more EP’s, an LP, 2 compilation appearances, and a split LP, as well as international tours in Mexico, Europe, and Canada. Now, with Lacy’s exciting return, Lord Snow has created something of a retrospective meditation on their past work. Lord Snow’s newest release, “Have You Heard Of The High Elves” is a reimagining of previously released material with Lacy performing Maldonado’s vocal parts.

Though they cite perfunctory screamo influences as France’s Daitro, Italy’s La Quiete, and California’s Funeral Diner and Loma Prieta, Lord Snow are deeply unique in their approach and widely known for their proficiency and lo-fi recordings. Lord Snow’s style is earmarked by the jazz feel of their songs; tempos fluctuate and, at times, break down altogether. At other times, each member is playing with an intensity and precision that could only be likened to another of Lord Snow’s influences: Amherst, Massachusetts legends Ampere. Zaglaras’ chords are passionate and doleful, switching rapidly between fingerpicking and strumming, Anderson’s very fill-heavy, frantic, and frankly astounding drumming often resides at the edge of human capability, and Maldonado’s vocals range between melodic singing and larynx-thrashing screams that often bleed into each other. The same can be said of Lacy, even from the time of Sovngarde, but they approach the tracks written in their absence with a style and presence entirely their own.

Like many of Lord Snow’s other recordings, “Have You Heard Of The High Elves” was recorded entirely by the band, doing their parts remotely in their respective locations in Chicago, LA, NYC, and Cleveland, practicing them virtually. The songs are hardly lo-fi this time, however, with punk producer-extraordinaire Jack Shirley handling mixing and mastering.

Limited vinyl pressing comes packaged in a full color jacket with a zine booklet and colored vinyl.

CONVERGE “Hum of Hurt” by J. Bennett

You feel it before you hear it. And once you hear it, you can’t unhear it. A low, persistent noise throbbing in the background. Scientists say it registers between 30 and 40 hertz. It’s been heard in Ipswich, Massachusetts; Auckland, New Zealand; and Windsor, Ontario. It has haunted the population of Taos, New Mexico, for decades. It’s been linked to suicides in the UK. Not everyone can hear it. No one knows where it’s coming from. They call it The Hum.

Converge have taken this mysterious real-world phenomenon and reimagined it as a physical manifestation of human suffering. I read on the phenomena while researching my own tinnitus. Then an idea struck. “What if the Hum is the culmination of all the pain in the world, creating an audible signal across the universe?” vocalist and lyricist Jacob Bannon posits. “Something noticeable to others operating on a similar emotional plane.”

Hum of Hurt follows Love Is Not Enough as Converge’s second full-length release of 2026. Like its predecessor, the album offers a bleak yet empathetic assessment of the human condition and its ongoing deterioration. With this album, the songs are more raw and exposed. “When we came together to write, we ended up with a wealth of material,” Bannon says. “As work progressed we realized we had created two separate albums, and treated them as such.”

Hum of Hurt is distinct from Love Is Not Enough, but just as volatile and potent. “It’s not a sequel,” Bannon explains. “The unifying musical idea early on was, ‘Let’s make a noise rock album.’ But we never really did. The first one wasn’t. This one touches on that spirit, but it’s much more dynamic than that descriptor. To me, it leans more into being an emotional hardcore album, while Love Is Not Enough feels more metal leaning album. In the end, we simply gave creative birth to another Converge record with its own unique identity and character.”

Opener “Slip the Noose” erupts with a furious cannonade from drummer Ben Koller before launching into a short, grinding frenzy that would feel at home on Jane Doe. “Doom in Bloom” is raw and bloody, as guitarist Kurt Ballou’s spiky riffs scrape against Nate Newton’s bass and Koller’s drums. You can practically hear Bannon’s throat tearing apart in every scream. “It’s dark and pointed right at you,” he says. “Lyrically, I’m exploring how my own middle-aged introspection doesn’t always bring a brighter light. I see my own trappings reflected in those around me. Here I am imploring them to slip the noose to see another day.”

“Dream Debris” is a gripping, doomy epic born from a single bass note that builds to a booming crescendo. “It has a lot of twists and turns, yet starts off incredibly simple. The slow build was driven by Nate’s vision and bass tone,” Bannon says. “We kept asking ourselves ‘Does it need anything else?’ In the end, it didn’t. It was just so heavy, encapsulating everything we wanted in the song."

The menacing track “Detonator” delivers a powerful line that will linger: There’s nothing to win if there’s no one to lose. “I go on a bit of a rant here,” Bannon says. “The idea is that when passion withers, the broken and beaten often remain in discomfort. The song ends with the line, ‘Don't be blown apart by your mistakes,’ which sums up the stark mentality on this one.”

The title track stands as one of the most propulsive and emotional songs of their career. Thematically, Bannon examines the price of the lives we pursue. “I’ve given 35 years of my life to creating art and music,” he says. “I appreciate the creative home and support this community has given, yet rarely is space left for anything else. These lyrics are me looking in a mirror, recognizing that I am not the man I want to be. I need change, and still have work to do.”

The album also features a new rendition of “I Won’t Let You Go,” originally recorded for the 2020 video game Cyberpunk 2077. “When we recorded the first version, Ben tracked drums in California and we assembled it here,” Bannon explains. “It was good, but we knew we could do better. This version has everything the previous one was missing. It now feels right.”

Hum of Hurt was recorded and mixed by Kurt Ballou at God City in Salem, Massachusetts, with engineering assistance from Zach Weeks. Bannon and renowned UK artist Thomas Hooper collaborated on the album artwork.

“For the cover, I had a vision of an EKG signal fusing with some kind of volatile seismography. This amalgamation represents the conditions that would theoretically create a ‘Hum.’ Specifically the heart skips beats before dissolving into static. The signal is then interrupted by a seismic event at the center point of the cover. In conversation, I shared some of these ideas with artist Thomas Hooper, who offered to illustrate them using scientific diagrams as a source of inspiration.

I then spent months creating a mixed media piece for the interior,” Bannon says. “The figures represent the five elements of our planet, or ‘Pancha Bhuta’: Prithvi (Earth), Ap (Water), Agni (Fire), Vayu (Air), and Akasha (Aether). I present them in the throws of chaos, as if the elements themselves are entangled in the Hum of Hurt.”

With Embrace the Black Light, their long-awaited third album on Closed Casket Activities, Connecticut’s own deliver twelve tracks that push the boundaries even further.

Recorded and fully realized within the walls of Silver Bullet Studios in Burlington, Connecticut, Embrace the Black Light marks a new chapter in the 100 Demons story — one forged with patience, intention, and an ear toward something lasting. Oathbreaker "Rheia (Redux)"

2xLP - $19.40
2xLP UPC: 641956287765
STREET DATE: 5/29/26
CAT#: DW271
LABEL: Deathwish Inc.

"Rheia (Redux)" is the 2026 remaster of Oathbreaker's genre defining album. Helmed by Jack Shirley (Deafheaven, Loma Prieta), "Rheia" stands as a turning point, where Oathbreaker began pushing beyond the boundaries of contemporary heavy music.

Their awe-inspiring Instrumentation was recorded on two inch tape in a largely live environment. Vocals where also captured in single takes, heightening the immediacy and intensity of Caro Tanghe's legendary performances.

"10:56" opens in restraint before giving way to the explosive "Second Son of R," where melody fractures into blackened intensity and shifting tempos. "Being Able To Feel Nothing" surges and collapses in waves, while "Stay Here / Accroche-Moi" offers a spectral acoustic pause before "Needles In Your Skin," a stark and deeply personal centerpiece.

From there, the record only expands. "Immortals" swells with overwhelming force, leading into the triptych of "I'm Sorry, This Is," "Where I Live," and "Where I Leave." It all resolves with "Begeerte," a closer that drifts into the unknown, dissolving as it arrives.

TRACK LISTING:
01. 10:56

Policy of 3 "Policy of 3"

2xLP - $19.40
STREET DATE: 5/29/26
CAT#: PRO-113
LABEL: Protagonist Music

Policy of 3 are an American emocore quartet from New Jersey and Philadelphia who helped define the sound of early 90s political post-hardcore and whose 2025 reformation has been met with the kind of joy that only comes when a band truly mattered the first time around. Their name alone was a statement of intent; inspired by a term referencing the philosophy of a group of 1930s Chinese farmers who nonviolently advocated for peasant power and independence from the wealthy landowning class. Policy of 3 arrived with their politics already embedded in their identity before a single note was played. This was not a band that attached a message onto their music as an afterthought. The message and the music were the same thing from the beginning.

In a moment when post-hardcore was evolving rapidly and in multiple directions at once, Policy of 3 carved out something specific and their own. They blended the raw energy of punk rock with left-wing politics, more varied tempos, and an emo introspection that was authentic and natural. Their sound drew natural comparisons to fellow Ebullition Records bands Moss Icon and Still Life, and to Hoover — arpeggiated guitars, sung and spoken vocals, the quiet-to-explosive dynamic that defined the best emocore of that era — but with a political directness and intellectual weight that set them apart. Their lyrics confronted social and political injustice head on, but with a contemplative nuance that trusted the listener could meet them halfway. This was not music that shouted slogans – it was music that asked questions and wanted conversations.

What makes Policy of 3's story particularly resonant is the gap between their influence and their recognition. Like so many of the bands who actually laid the groundwork for what post-hardcore and emo would become, they did not get their acclaim in real time. The bands that got famous were often standing on the shoulders of bands like this one, presenting a more palatable, diluted, and commercialized version for the masses. That is not a complaint. It is simply the history of underground music, and it is why reissues and reformations like this one matter so much.

During their original run from 1989 to 1995 Policy of 3 toured the United States twice and Europe once, becoming a mainstay at DIY venues and house shows along the East Coast. Their recorded output was small but essential. Two 7"s, one LP — the extraordinary Dead Dog Summer — and contributions to several compilations, all of it later gathered on an anthology that served as both a document and a delayed introduction for listeners who found them too late. That anthology (minus the live tracks) was reissued on vinyl in 2025 by Stonehenge Records in Europe, and has now been released through Ebullition Records & Protagonist Music in the U.S. and worldwide.

Thirty years on, the questions their music asked have not been answered. The injustices their lyrics named have not been resolved. The world Policy of 3 were responding to in the early 1990s — the concentration of power, the suppression of dissent, the gap between those who own everything and those who own nothing — looks even more familiar now than it did then. Which is perhaps why their return feels less like nostalgia and more like necessity. Policy of 3 are back. The songs still mean what they always meant. And rooms are going to be full of people who have been waiting a long time to sing them again.

See You Next Tuesday are a grindcore band from suburban Michigan. The quartet was founded for a laugh in 2004, but quickly built a serious following that led to an eventual signing with Ferret Music and the release of the band's scathing debut album, Parasite, in early 2007. After a hiatus in 2010, the band reformed/regrouped in 2022, releasing a series of albums, including an electronic forward remix album and a drum swapping collaborative double EP.

CHOP CHOP CHOP CHOP CHOP CHOP CHOP (aka Chop7Times) is a one man noisegrind act from New Haven, CT. Blending digital drums and bass, walls of harsh noise, and violent screams, Chop7Times has been tearing a path up and down the east coast since 2019.

This collaborative release is based off of a book entitled The Brothers’ War, a 1998 fantasy novel by Jeff Grubb; it is the first book in the Magic: The Gathering: Artifacts Cycle, detailing the epic conflict between brothers Urza and Mishra on the world of Dominaria. The book explores the origins of Urza and the magical and technological arms race that leads to cataclysmic events. For the album, side A, See You Next Tuesday’s Chris Fox wrote his lyrics based on the perspective of the Brother Urza, while Chop wrote his lyrics from Mishra's perspective for side B.

Brothers was produced, engineered and mixed by Drew Slavik. Mastered by Jeff McKinnon at Controlled Sound Studios. It will be released by Sundown Records.

LABEL: Deathwish Inc. / Sunday Drive

Our connections with those around us are inherently transient, yet we often find ourselves defined by them. And if we find ourselves defined by these connections, what are we left with when they inevitably come to an end? This is arguably the central question of “Bridge Over Cumberland”, which marks a bold step forward for Mad Honey, as the Oklahoma City band’s second full-length release on Deathwish Inc. and Sunday Drive Records is confident, assured, and undoubtedly their most complete work to date.

Debuting in 2018, Mad Honey quickly became one of the buzziest acts in the prolific OKC shoegaze scene, with lead vocalist Tuff Sutcliffe’s poignant lyricism serving as an enigmatic centerpiece. For this album, the band’s most collaborative effort yet, the production allows Sutcliffe’s shadowy presence to stand tall against a backdrop of billowing guitars. The eleven tracks unfold as a series of snapshots tracing the silhouettes of heartaches both platonic and romantic, both quotidian and cosmic. The intrinsic tension of codependency is explored in the couplet of “Somehow” and “Past Together Isn’t Presence”, as the former opens with Sutcliffe sardonically lamenting “the way that I miss him, I should be put down” while in the latter, the other party is the one who is pining. Anyone who has dealt with the ending stages of a fading friendship or a moribund romance will find something to relate to here, whether it’s the curse of inauspicious timing and the ground that the connection was built on seemingly shifting underneath your feet in the propulsive “James Gets His Rose” or “Moshfeghian” examining the question of whether it’s possible for anyone to win in these situations against the backdrop of a dooming, droning guitar riff.

From the opening track “I Am a Wall, I Am a House”, there’s a recurring motif of exploring our connections through the structures we inhabit. These structures often stand tall across multiple generations, persisting well beyond the fleeting lives of the people who have built and occupied them. How many breakups have the walls of our houses seen over the years? How many failed talking stages have left people curled up on the floors of their apartments? How long does a trace of a former friend’s presence linger in the fabric of your curtains after they’ve left your place for the last time? Do these structures judge us on how long we take to pick up the pieces of our lives and find ourselves once again in the aftermath of losing someone who served as a prism through which we viewed the world and our place in it?

This all culminates in the towering title track to close out the album, which surely stands as Mad Honey’s most notable achievement thus far. In it, we survey the waning embers of a fire which once burned bright. The bed is greening over. Sutcliffe is burning every bridge, but keeping the ordinary, pedestrian moments which ultimately define our lives. She’s pondering whether her dreams lie in the Tennessee hills where she grew up, rather than the Oklahoma plains where she currently resides. By the time a gentle piano denouement carries us to the conclusion of the song cycle, we’re left with the sense that in spite of Sutcliffe so often finding herself unmoored and dealing with all of the ways in which deep feelings seemingly define us and threaten to destroy us when an important interpersonal dynamic comes to its inescapable conclusion, there’s ultimately a quiet conviction that all of this emotional pain can eventually result in hard-won growth. “Bridge Over Cumberland” therefore suggests that if you define yourself by these connections, what you are left with when they come to their inevitable end is a crossroads, both a risk of self-destruction and an opportunity for reinvention. It’s a tense, nervy conclusion, but also an empowering one. And given the accomplishment that this album represents, we can find solace in the fact that this time, reinvention has won out.

Haggard Cat "THE PAIN THAT ORBITS LIFE"

LP - $20.65 / CD - $12.00
STREET DATE: 05/08/26
CAT#: CRR260
LABEL: Church Road

Haggard Cat are a critically acclaimed British post hardcore/alt-rock duo, composed of drummer/backing vocalist Tom Marsh and vocalist/guitarist Matt Reynolds. Both members are seen as core pillars of the UK rock and metal scene, having initially made names for themselves as members of the cult band Heck (formerly Baby Godzilla) who were active from 2009-2017. Haggard Cat started as a side project for Tom and Matt, but soon became their main focus when Heck disbanded in 2017. Haggard Cat’s aim was to maintain the same lawless rock and roll energy that Heck had, but with more of a laser sharp focus on diverse song writing and infectious hooks.

Haggard Cat laid a blueprint of what was to come with their demo record ‘Charger’ in 2013, but it wasn’t until they released their 2018 album ‘Challenger’ (Earache Records) that the band made their first proper musical statement to the world. The record immediately caught the attention of the press, with Metal Hammer describing them as “a balls-out, batshit, rock ’n’ roll freight train”.

The band followed with their second LP ‘Common Sense Holiday’ (Earache Records) in March 2020, right on the cusp of the world coming to a grinding halt. Fortunately the record was still potent enough to cut through the turmoil happening at the time, as Kerrang Magazine would note that “Common Sense Holiday, cemented the duo’s reputation as one of the UK’s premier noisemakers”.

Emerging from lock down, the band didn’t waste any time and immediately set about self-releasing their 2021 EP ‘Cheer Up’, followed by an extensive touring schedule, where the duo melted the faces of audiences anywhere that they set foot on stage. How two people manage to create such a hypnotic racket is truly an impressive feat, and because of this Haggard Cat have managed to garner an incredible reputation as a live band. This reputation has awarded them an impressive gig CV, with blistering sets at prestigious festivals such as Glastonbury, Boomtown, 2000 Trees and ArcTanGent. They’ve also shared the stage with legendary names such as Dead Kennedys, Enter Shikari, The Bronx, Mutoid Man and many others.

Aside from their electrifying performances, it’s the band's down to earth charm that has won them their audience. When you see Haggard Cat live you will see smiles radiating from both Tom and Matt on stage. This energy is mirrored by the crowd and creates a sense that everyone’s here for the same purpose, to hear some earth shattering rock music and to cut loose together.

For their highly anticipated third full-length album, ‘The Pain That Orbits Life’ , Haggard Cat have teamed up with double Grammy award-winning producer Adrian Bushby to create their most accomplished body of work to date. The album sees the band draw on more progressive influences, featuring sprawling epics and industrial synths along with huge choruses and the more adrenaline-charged moments that they have become well known for.

No Grave "Suffer Together"

LP - $15.30 / CD - $7.00 / CASSETTE - $7.00
STREET DATE: 05/01/26
CAT#: HMR-015
LABEL: Heroes & Martyrs

Forged in the space between discipline and volatility, No Grave operate with a singular intent—channeling the weight of hardcore tradition through a lens that refuses stagnation. Anchored in part by Rich Thurston, whose history spans genre-defining bands such as Culture, Terror, and Blood Has Been Shed, the band carries forward a lineage without being confined by it. On their latest full-length, Suffer Together, the answer becomes clear: this is not a revival—this is an evolution.

Suffer Together is a documentation of loss, betrayal, and suffering, but it’s less a collection of songs and more a controlled detonation built on blunt-force riffs, coiled rhythms, and an undercurrent of melody that cuts deep. No Grave have never sounded this immediate, nor been this locked in. Every passage feels deliberate, every note is earned—music that doesn’t just hit, but lingers.

Emerging from Ohio, No Grave draw from the foundation laid by Turmoil, Earth Crisis, and Poison the Well. What began as a raw, confrontational project has evolved into something far more expansive—without sacrificing the intensity that defined it. Years of refinement, both on record and on stage, have shaped a band that understands exactly where it stands and how far it can push beyond that.

Suffer Together captures a band fully in control of their chaos. Recorded by Shaun O’Shaughnessy at Encore Studios, guitars strike with mechanical precision, drums land with ferocity, and vocals—equal parts command and confession—cut through with unfiltered urgency. The record was mixed by Taylor Young at The Pit Recording Studio (God’s Hate, Internal Bleeding) and mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege (Obituary, Creeping Death), reinforcing its balance of raw immediacy and sonic weight. Tracks such as No Grave and Lord of Envy strike with force, while Unrest and The Silenced—which features Pete Morcey of 100 Demons—offer moments where melody and texture amplify the impact rather than ease it. It’s within this push and pull that the band’s identity takes its clearest form.

For No Grave, Suffer Together isn’t just another entry in the hardcore continuum—it’s a statement of purpose. Lyrically centered on reckoning, resilience, and the refusal to break, the record confronts rather than postures, delivering something immediate and lived-in. It understands where it comes from, but refuses to be confined by it.

TRACK LISTING:
01. No Grave
02. Lord of Envy
03. Endless Blue
04. Scales of Justice
05. Freedom Dispenser
06. Stranger
07. Rotten Foundation

Armed for Apocalypse "THE EARTH IS BREATHING BENEATH ME"

LP - $19.40 / CD - $12.00
STREET DATE: 04/24/26
CAT#: CRR57
LABEL: Church Road

‘The Earth is Breathing Beneath Me’ isn’t a metaphor. It’s a realisation that the ground beneath our feet is alive, and we’re all just passengers on its pulse. It’s that hum of dread and wonder that defines Armed For Apocalypse’s fourth full-length album: a towering, grooved-out, post-metal monolith carved from grief, power, and purpose.

Formed in Chico, California between longtime friends Nick Harris (drums) and Cayle Hunter (guitar), Armed For Apocalypse is a what-if turned war machine. Over the years, the band has endured enough shakeups and setbacks to bury most acts: relocations, divorces, day jobs, family changes and not to mention complete lineup overhauls. But where others fractured, AFA sharpened.

Now based in Portland, Oregon, the current lineup consisting of drummer Harris, guitarist/vocalist Nate Burman, bassist Charlie Fischer and vocalist Hunter - the band has found rare continuity and it shows. ‘The Earth is Breathing Beneath Me’, recorded once again with Kurt Ballou at God City Studios, is the sound of a band not just surviving, but thriving in their chaos. The guitars sound raw and intimidating. The drums hit like wrecking balls while the bass shakes the very ground you stand on. Burman’s vocals slice through the noise with a sense of finality - desperate, powerful, unafraid to hope, even while drowning.

“This album is bleak,” the band says. "It’s got dissonance and aggression and every song carries a sense of melancholy and density beneath the surface. But there are also moments of meditation, and even signs of optimism woven in that make it feel like a true reflection of who we are as people.”

Opening track Drown sets the tone, a flag planted deep in the soil, daring you to stay. From there, the band moves with purpose through blast beats, dynamic sludge, ambient stretches, and raw-throated catharsis. This isn’t a genre exercise. It’s a record written by a band with doom and hardcore in their DNA playing sludge, or maybe something else entirely. What it is, more than anything, is honest.

Offstage, the members of AFA have wildly differing interests, from yoga to culinary experimentation. What unites them is more than riffs, it’s brotherhood, therapy, a shared refusal to stop. “We’ve heard it our whole career,” they say. ‘You guys are too nice to be in a heavy band.’ But the music is why we’re happy. It’s how we stay alive.”

The Earth is Breathing Beneath Me isn’t just their best record, it’s their most vital. It’s not here to sell you on a scene or posture for the algorithm. It’s here to crush, connect, and release. If you’re ready for that, they’ll meet you at the edge of the world.

The Saddest Landscape have been perfecting their balance of frantic hardcore and cathartic vulnerability for over 20 years and return with a double LP on Iodine Recordings in 2026.

Their first new music in a decade, the full length dives fearlessly into themes of survival, grief, the ache that follows, and the fragile hope that keeps us pushing through the dark. These songs exist in the place where the things not said aloud dwell, where memory turns to ash, where love outlives the wreckage.

Recorded with Steve Albini and Jack Shirley, the double LP moves between songs and instrumental passages, shaped by memory, endurance, and hope. Guest appearances from Julien Baker, Jeremy Bolm, and Evan Weiss appear across select tracks.

Anxious Arms "In the Shadow of the Cross"

LP - $16.60 / CD - $7.00
STREET DATE: 7/10/26
CAT#: SDR-164
LABEL: Sunday Drive

Apathy and failure cover the modern world. “In the Shadow of the Cross“ confronts this reality, capturing humanity at its bleakest and most self-destructive. Nearly a decade after forming, Sacramento’s Anxious Arms continue to evolve, abandoning the remnants of their earlier alternative-rock leanings in favor of something heavier and much darker.

On their second album, the band leans fully into doom and metal, drawing clear influence from Crowbar and Black Sabbath while still carrying the imprint of their Sacramento roots, with lingerings of sounds influenced by Will Haven, Deftones, and Far at the band’s foundation. This version of Anxious Arms feels the most fully realized: a lineup unified in vision. With longtime producer Pat Hills, the band delivers its heaviest material to date, recorded live at Earthtone Studios that presents a raw sound at its core.
