Whether you choose to label it screamo, emo-violence or skramz, one thing we can agree on is that many bands live by the mantra of “here today, gone today”. Whether intentional or simply burning brightly before running out ideas, it's somewhat uncommon for acts to make it past the three year mark. Since their formation in 2016, Milwaukee trio Snag have quietly carved out their own unique space in the DIY underground, quickly becoming a favorite of listeners hungry for emotional hardcore that delivered more than just aimless chaos. On All The Cages Holding Us Will One Day Turn To Dust, the band's third LP and first for Deathwish Inc, Snag continue to develop their brand of heavy emo, expanding melodically and texturally without losing their edge. “Musically, the album is punishing at moments; fast and heavy but also soft and beautiful” says guitarist and vocalist Samm Szymborski. “We wanted to write something that spans all things musically that we are interested in. We wanted to write an album that goes straight to the point and represents Snag as a whole.”

Working with engineer Nick Elert, the album was tracked live over the course of three days in July 2025, adding vocals a month later after experiencing an unexpected power outage at the studio. Compared to the band's prior output, All the Cages is a little more spacious in its production, with Elert introducing a touch of ambiance into the Snag sonic world that’s a welcome addition. The frantic start and stop tempos, the panic-stricken screams and melancholic chord progressions are all still there, but the album displays plenty of growth as well. Throughout its 11 tracks, Snag exhibit the expansion of their sound in both directions-at times more melodic and others more aggressive than their previous releases.

Snag’s lyrical approach has often been more universal, focusing on broader themes like climate anxiety and apocalyptic dread. Many of the lyrics on All the Cages show the band looking inward, drawing on the band members’ personal experiences with chronic illness and mental health obstacles. “After going through some mental health struggles this past year, and being in a relationship with someone who is chronically ill, being part of writing this album has helped me through some of those struggles,” says drummer and vocalist Bryan Wysocki. “The album is an odyssey through all the cages one may be trapped in whether it be physically, mentally, as a product of society or as a product of our own being.” The theme of cages weaves its way throughout the lyrics of the album; on “Unarrest Me”, it’s the physical cage of a jail cell, on “Debilitated”, it’s the cage of one's own body, on “Shelf Life”, it’s the cage of materialism.

From the beginning, acting on the message has always been a part of Snag’s agenda, with the lyrics serving as a suggestion for active involvement. Along with the imperative lyric sheet, their self-titled debut LP also came with a book of matches and an envelope of seeds, encouraging the listener to help grow new habitats for pollinators. For All The Cages, the band once again chose to use the LP format as a means for action, working with the Florida-based organization Wire of Hope to include individually labeled envelopes to inmates as an invitation for listeners to have a prison pen pal.

“The logic that says a corporation can destroy the planet to extract profit from it systematically is the same basic logic that says humans can be systematically caged for profit,” says bassist and vocalist Peter Murphy. “It’s probably safe to say every person who hears this album is a lot closer to being incarcerated than to being one of the billionaires that seek ever more control. We thought we could make that connection much more explicit with a homework assignment in the record insert. And hopefully foster friendship and connection as well.”

The intentionality of the band's lyrical approach extends to the music, as well. Snag has always been far more than a mere throwback, consciously bringing something new to a subgenre that often does little to move beyond the influence of its forebearers. All The Cages sees the band continue on this path, recalling the sounds of progressive and dynamic acts like Majority Rule, Welcome the Plague Year, and Kidcrash. “We made a decision a long time ago to simply make the music that we like and to not try to fit into genre conventions” says Murphy. “That decision gave us permission to try different instrumentation and stylistic approaches to songs, which resulted in a few unusual moments on this album.”

One of those moments is the track “Juneberry”, a somber Americana-tinged track that features splashes of pedal steel, horns and layered harmonies. For Snag, “Juneberry” could have easily been a sore thumb, but they succeeded in seamlessly incorporating newer elements into their sound without sounding forced. “Whisper” subtly recalls acts like Sigur Ros with its chord progression, trading the menacing riffage for something more melodic and sentimental. “Pray for Peace” features driving, downstrummed Wipers-indebted rhythm guitars that show a more straight-forward side of Snag, before giving way to unrelenting blast beats and an eventual piano coda. The use of piano continues on “Paris, WI”, a haunting ballad that nods to Thee Silver Mount Zion and Pygmy Lush.

All the Cages marks the band’s first time working with Deathwish Inc, the stalwart label known for championing some of modern aggressive music's best and most forward-thinking acts. For Snag , who previously worked with smaller DIY labels like Middle Man and Zegema Beach, working with Deathwish was an opportunity to continue the tradition on a larger scale.

“Deathwish has been responsible for some of our absolute favorite releases,” said Szymborski. “We had been working with them on distribution here and there since around 2021, and the pieces finally came together for a proper release this year.” Ultimately, now a decade into their existence, Snag continues to be one of the most unique voices in modern DIY hardcore. The members’ commitment to the band can be seen as largely personal; they need the music as much as it needs them. Beyond that, it’s quite simple: they have yet to grow bored with the thing that captured their attention and imaginations as kids.

“When we started the band we were in some of the most depressive periods of our lives, and it offered an outlet, camaraderie, and hope,” says Wysocki. “It hasn’t stopped since.”

Snag’s third LP, All The Cages Holding Us Will One Day Turn To Dust is set for release on July 10 via Deathwish Inc. Lead single “Debilitated” is currently available on all major streaming platforms.

Arise From Worms "A Bleeding Tree Hanging Self Destruction"

LP - $19.40 / CD - $12.00
STREET DATE: 07/10/26
CAT#: CRR262
LABEL: Church Road

Arise From Worms is the brainchild of guitarist Sonny Lombardozzi. Not just a musical project, but an outlet for him to push the envelope of extreme music, challenging the listener to leave behind preconceptions of genre limitations and to approach the music with an open mind. In his exploration of the musical outer limits, he is joined by fellow seasoned pros Steve Tucker (Morbid Angel) on vocals, Flo Mounier (Cryptopsy) on drums and Derek Sherinian (Dream Theater, Steve Vai, Malmsteen, Kiss) on keys. An allstar line up that grabs the attention of any metal/progressive music enthusiast.

The project began whilst Sonny was on tour with Morbid Angel. Sonny explained the concept of the band to Steve Tucker, who was intrigued and fully committed to getting involved. Sonny wasted no time and began handwriting transcripts for what would become the earliest Arise From Worms material, whilst on tour.

Once off the road, plans for the band were fully cemented with Flo and Derek joining the fold. As a taste of things to come, they released their 2022 self-titled EP which quickly sold out of its first vinyl pressing. This EP featured the track ‘Axes of the Void II’ with guest vocalist Dallas Toler-Wade (ex-Nile).

Having laid the foundations, The band is now ready to release their defining statement with their debut studio album ‘A Bleeding Tree Hanging Self Destruction’, set for release on July 10th via Church Road Records.

Fans of all the musicians involved will be satisfied by this release, but not due to knowing what to expect, but by hearing something completely new and ground breaking. Sonny has made it his mission to tap deep into some of the world's forgotten music, and lesser known theories, scales and harmonies. For people with musical theory understanding, Sonny has incorporated the double harmonic major, F#Lydian #2 #6 and the lonian Aug#2 into his compositions. Combining jazz fusion with classical music theory has given the band its own sound of unique harmonies and odd time signatures.

If you're looking for music to take you to new places and to question your understanding of song structures, then look no further. ‘A Bleeding Tree Hanging Self Destruction’ is here to break your mind wide open and leave you to pick up the pieces. Set for release via Church Road Records on July 10th.

.gif from god "Dissimulation"

STREET DATE: 7/10/26
CAT#: VIS035
LABEL: Persistent Vision

“Dissimulation”, the long awaited new full length from Richmond, Virginia’s .gif from god.

.gif from god has defied easy categorization since their inception in 2015. Blending various elements of hardcore punk and extreme metal, including metalcore, screamo, and grindcore, the unit has solidified its place in the underground music scene over the past decade. The six-piece machine cemented their lineup in 2017, including two stand-alone vocalists, resulting in maximum insanity and catharsis during their live shows.

On their third LP, “Dissimulation”, .gif from god has honed their chaotic craft into a laser-focused sonic blast that slips in like a blade and hits like a truck. Working again with past collaborator Matt Michel (No Man, Majority Rule) at the legendary Viva Studios, they’ve exceeded the limits of their previous work while creating a record that is still deeply rooted in the storied Virginia punk scene that precedes them. Dissimulation explores the unseen, otherworldly senses within us that are indescribable and horrific to face. Spiraling paranoid fantasies that lure you deeper into the cosmic abyss.

“Dissimulation” was produced by the band, engineered and mixed by Matt Michel, and mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege.

hey thanks. returns with a darker, more deliberate sound. Blending post-punk and new wave influences, their sophomore full-length, Avoidance, reflects on time, identity, and the weight of isolation.

Avoidance finds hey thanks. stepping back from trying to explain everything and sitting in the uncertainty instead.

The record centers on time, identity, and the gap between what you feel and what you can actually make sense of. Across these songs, nothing fully resolves. Moments repeat, thoughts loop, and meaning stays just out of reach. It lives in that in-between space, caught between experience and understanding.

Recorded in their home studio, the album took shape piece by piece using live drum samples, layered percussion, guitar performances, and dense synth work, giving Avoidance its character. The band allowed the songs to unfold naturally, arriving somewhere more honest in the process.

Built on synth layers, live percussion, and bright, driving rhythms, the songs move with a steady pulse while never fully settling. There is a constant push and pull throughout, something that feels light on the surface but carries weight underneath.

Rather than offering clarity, Avoidance stays with the questions.

Witchsorrow "The Devil And All His Works"

LP - $19.40 / CD - $12.00
STREET DATE: 07/03/26
CAT#: CRR263
LABEL: Church Road

For Witchsorrow, doom metal is an obsession. Slaves to Black Sabbath, and proudly continuing the heavy work of the genre’s high priests Cathedral, Reverend Bizarre, Electric Wizard, Candlemass and Saint Vitus, the Hampshire-based trio’s fanaticism has made them one of the undergrounds leading lights.

Forged in 2006 around the core duo of Necroskull (vocals/guitar) and Emily Witch (bass), across four albums their sound has retained the traditions of doom metal – and here metal is just as important a word as doom – while carving a place all of their own within it. Invoking the dread and despair of Sabbath’s signature song, their music is also that of dyed-in-the-wool metal maniacs, proud and unashamed.

It’s found its share of acolytes as well, having shared stages with heroes like Electric Wizard and Vitus, as well as performing their hymns to the void at Download, Roadburn, ArcTanGent, Desertfest and countless others.

As they enter their twentieth year, the fire has not dimmed on their fifth offering, The Devil And All His Works. Eight years since the true metal attack of 2018’s highly-acclaimed Hexenhammer, even as the swan song for longtime drummer Wilbrahammer, it finds the band sharpening their claws and delving even deeper into the depths of doom metal than before. From the mighty, organ-infused opener Omnia Finiuntur, to Bacchus’ celebration of sin, the fist-raised chug of Hades Chains (featuring guest roars from Serena Cherry of Svalbard/Noctule) or the epic A Quintessence Of Dust (featuring Employed To Serve’s Sammy Urwin shredding a killer lead), fans of this stuff in its most arcane, heavy and occult-edged form will fall under its spell.

“I wanted everything to be as pure as possible,” asserts Necroskull. “Everything had to be total doom, to an even higher degree than before. I’m still as proud to call ourselves a doom metal band as I ever was. I don’t know anything else.”

The album’s lyrics and title – taken from an occult book by legendary author Dennis Wheatley – come from the idea that The Devil is present in everything, and about knowing when to let him in and when to cast him out.

“I noticed when I was writing the lyrics that there was something of him there in everything I was coming up with as a metaphor for things both good and bad” explains Necroskull. “I’ve previously written cautionary tales about people getting into Faustian pacts without realising what they’re dealing with, but here there was a different balance. Bacchus is about the joy of decadence and sin,but there’s also things that touch on impermanence and loss and feeling like there’s a dark force at the edge of reality out to hide misfortune for you to trip on.”

With new drummer Scott ‘Doom’ Taylor (Vnder A Crvmbling Moon, Garganjua) now on board, the crusade continues apace. On the anthemic headbanger In Triumph We Rot!!!, Witchsorrow sing of a life dedicated to doom, both as a passion and simply an unavoidable calling. Two decades into their mission, The Devil And All His Works is their most captivating sermon yet.

Vessel marks the return of There Were Wires after more than two decades, capturing a band reshaped by years, loss, and persistence. From their genesis in Boston as a brash & chaotic hardcore punk band, TWW has morphed into a different beast - older, wiser, and heavier than ever before. The record moves elementally between caustic attack and contemplative restraint, balancing intensity with moments of space and reflection. Themes of fear, grief, and exhaustion surface throughout, shaping a body of work that feels both lived-in and immediate. Vessel holds the accumulated experience of the past, expressed with clarity and purpose.

While their self-titled album ran almost entirely on pure adrenaline and shirt-grabbing emotion, and Somnambulists took risks and hinted at musical growth, Vessel sees TWW ignoring the strictures of genre, and producing their most creative and heartfelt songs to date. Through time, trust, and life experience, There Were Wires have created their most immersive and fully realized work.

Rosemary Nods Upon The Grave "EP 1 & EP 2"

LP - $17.25 / CS - $7.50
STREET DATE: 6/26/26
CAT#: VIS036
LABEL: Persistent Vision

Rosemary nods upon the grave is an emotional hardcore band from Savannah, Georgia. “EP 1 & EP 2” collects their two previously released EPs on one piece of vinyl. On ‘EP 1’, released in January 2025, you can see the rougher edges of the band figuring themselves out, and beginning to form a more introspective take on the screamo genre. Raucous, anthemic songs that cut straight to the heart of everyone listening. Rallying cries and outbursts of despair stitched together with a youthful hand.

On ‘EP 2’, released in March 2026, they manage to become something much bigger. Leaning heavily into a style of much more melodic screamo with post-rock soundscapes, shoegaze-influenced walls of sound, and a much more polished finish, without ever compromising the cathartic energy of their screamo roots.

At their core, Rosemary nods upon the grave maintains a masterful juxtaposition of emptiness and chaos. They balance tenderness with gentle dexterity, oscillating from emotional overwhelm to absolute restraint. This release wholeheartedly showcases what makes them one of the most remarkable bands to watch out of the emo scene as a whole right now, and is a clear indication of a band that grows sharper and more explosive with each release.

Vinyl comes packaged in a full color jacket with artwork from both EPs on the front and back covers, respectively. A limited kraft brown, silkscreened cover has been printed to accompany the Splatter vinyl variant.

TRACK LISTING:
01. In French

Onelinedrawing aka Jonah Matranga (Far, New End Original, Gratitude) is a restless and ever-changing thing. Whatever happens next, the only certainty is that every album will keep being different, and onelinedrawing will keep reaching.

Many of the songs that became Rainbowmachine existed for years before finally finding the right shape. Written across different eras of Jonah Matranga’s life, the album became an opportunity to fully open the onelinedrawing project outward, transforming intimate sketches into a layered, widescreen rock record built around collaboration, texture, and instinct.

Produced by Jay Maas, RAINBOWMACHINE moves between anxious haze, towering hooks, dense guitar layers, bubbling synths, and massive wall-of-sound crescendos while never losing the intimacy at the center of Jonah’s songwriting. The album balances vulnerability, melody, and experimentation in a way that feels both deeply personal and strangely communal.

The result is one of the most expansive and emotionally resonant onelinedrawing records to date: melodic, restless, emotionally raw, and constantly reaching for something bigger than itself.

Tuffie’s self-titled debut EP is a thunderous mix of emo, post-hardcore, shoegaze, and power pop. Lord Snow "Have You Heard of the High Elves"

LP - $17.25
STREET DATE: 6/5/26
CAT#: VIS032
LABEL: Persistent Vision

Chicago’s Lord Snow are standard-bearers in DIY, reaching a global albeit cult status by playing dense and technical screamo. Lord Snow began in 2011 through two sets of high school friends; bassist Steph Maldonado, guitarist Niko Zaglaras, drummer Erik Anderson, and vocalist An Lacy released an untitled demo EP and another called “Sovngarde.” Following Lacy’s departure in 2012, Maldonado became the band’s primary singer and Lord Snow released 3 more EP’s, an LP, 2 compilation appearances, and a split LP, as well as international tours in Mexico, Europe, and Canada. Now, with Lacy’s exciting return, Lord Snow has created something of a retrospective meditation on their past work. Lord Snow’s newest release, “Have You Heard Of The High Elves” is a reimagining of previously released material with Lacy performing Maldonado’s vocal parts.

Though they cite perfunctory screamo influences as France’s Daitro, Italy’s La Quiete, and California’s Funeral Diner and Loma Prieta, Lord Snow are deeply unique in their approach and widely known for their proficiency and lo-fi recordings. Lord Snow’s style is earmarked by the jazz feel of their songs; tempos fluctuate and, at times, break down altogether. At other times, each member is playing with an intensity and precision that could only be likened to another of Lord Snow’s influences: Amherst, Massachusetts legends Ampere. Zaglaras’ chords are passionate and doleful, switching rapidly between fingerpicking and strumming, Anderson’s very fill-heavy, frantic, and frankly astounding drumming often resides at the edge of human capability, and Maldonado’s vocals range between melodic singing and larynx-thrashing screams that often bleed into each other. The same can be said of Lacy, even from the time of Sovngarde, but they approach the tracks written in their absence with a style and presence entirely their own.

Like many of Lord Snow’s other recordings, “Have You Heard Of The High Elves” was recorded entirely by the band, doing their parts remotely in their respective locations in Chicago, LA, NYC, and Cleveland, practicing them virtually. The songs are hardly lo-fi this time, however, with punk producer-extraordinaire Jack Shirley handling mixing and mastering.

Limited vinyl pressing comes packaged in a full color jacket with a zine booklet and colored vinyl.

TRACK LISTING:
01. Never Again
02. Dastardly Halves
03. Alas the World Stops Spinning

CONVERGE “Hum of Hurt” by J. Bennett

You feel it before you hear it. And once you hear it, you can’t unhear it. A low, persistent noise throbbing in the background. Scientists say it registers between 30 and 40 hertz. It’s been heard in Ipswich, Massachusetts; Auckland, New Zealand; and Windsor, Ontario. It has haunted the population of Taos, New Mexico, for decades. It’s been linked to suicides in the UK. Not everyone can hear it. No one knows where it’s coming from. They call it The Hum.

Converge have taken this mysterious real-world phenomenon and reimagined it as a physical manifestation of human suffering. I read on the phenomena while researching my own tinnitus. Then an idea struck. “What if the Hum is the culmination of all the pain in the world, creating an audible signal across the universe?” vocalist and lyricist Jacob Bannon posits. “Something noticeable to others operating on a similar emotional plane.”

Hum of Hurt follows Love Is Not Enough as Converge’s second full-length release of 2026. Like its predecessor, the album offers a bleak yet empathetic assessment of the human condition and its ongoing deterioration. With this album, the songs are more raw and exposed. “When we came together to write, we ended up with a wealth of material,” Bannon says. “As work progressed we realized we had created two separate albums, and treated them as such.”

Hum of Hurt is distinct from Love Is Not Enough, but just as volatile and potent. “It’s not a sequel,” Bannon explains. “The unifying musical idea early on was, ‘Let’s make a noise rock album.’ But we never really did. The first one wasn’t. This one touches on that spirit, but it’s much more dynamic than that descriptor. To me, it leans more into being an emotional hardcore album, while Love Is Not Enough feels more metal leaning album. In the end, we simply gave creative birth to another Converge record with its own unique identity and character.”

Opener “Slip the Noose” erupts with a furious cannonade from drummer Ben Koller before launching into a short, grinding frenzy that would feel at home on Jane Doe. “Doom in Bloom” is raw and bloody, as guitarist Kurt Ballou’s spiky riffs scrape against Nate Newton’s bass and Koller’s drums. You can practically hear Bannon’s throat tearing apart in every scream. “It’s dark and pointed right at you,” he says. “Lyrically, I’m exploring how my own middle-aged introspection doesn’t always bring a brighter light. I see my own trappings reflected in those around me. Here I am imploring them to slip the noose to see another day.”

“Dream Debris” is a gripping, doomy epic born from a single bass note that builds to a booming crescendo. “It has a lot of twists and turns, yet starts off incredibly simple. The slow build was driven by Nate’s vision and bass tone,” Bannon says. “We kept asking ourselves ‘Does it need anything else?’ In the end, it didn’t. It was just so heavy, encapsulating everything we wanted in the song."

The menacing track “Detonator” delivers a powerful line that will linger: There’s nothing to win if there’s no one to lose. “I go on a bit of a rant here,” Bannon says. “The idea is that when passion withers, the broken and beaten often remain in discomfort. The song ends with the line, ‘Don't be blown apart by your mistakes,’ which sums up the stark mentality on this one.”

The title track stands as one of the most propulsive and emotional songs of their career. Thematically, Bannon examines the price of the lives we pursue. “I’ve given 35 years of my life to creating art and music,” he says. “I appreciate the creative home and support this community has given, yet rarely is space left for anything else. These lyrics are me looking in a mirror, recognizing that I am not the man I want to be. I need change, and still have work to do.”

The album also features a new rendition of “I Won’t Let You Go,” originally recorded for the 2020 video game Cyberpunk 2077. “When we recorded the first version, Ben tracked drums in California and we assembled it here,” Bannon explains. “It was good, but we knew we could do better. This version has everything the previous one was missing. It now feels right.”

Hum of Hurt was recorded and mixed by Kurt Ballou at God City in Salem, Massachusetts, with engineering assistance from Zach Weeks. Bannon and renowned UK artist Thomas Hooper collaborated on the album artwork.

“For the cover, I had a vision of an EKG signal fusing with some kind of volatile seismography. This amalgamation represents the conditions that would theoretically create a ‘Hum.’ Specifically the heart skips beats before dissolving into static. The signal is then interrupted by a seismic event at the center point of the cover. In conversation, I shared some of these ideas with artist Thomas Hooper, who offered to illustrate them using scientific diagrams as a source of inspiration.

I then spent months creating a mixed media piece for the interior,” Bannon says. “The figures represent the five elements of our planet, or ‘Pancha Bhuta’: Prithvi (Earth), Ap (Water), Agni (Fire), Vayu (Air), and Akasha (Aether). I present them in the throws of chaos, as if the elements themselves are entangled in the Hum of Hurt.”

Oathbreaker "Rheia (Redux)"

2xLP - $19.40
2xLP UPC: 641956287765
STREET DATE: 5/29/26
CAT#: DW271
LABEL: Deathwish Inc.

"Rheia (Redux)" is the 2026 remaster of Oathbreaker's genre defining album. Helmed by Jack Shirley (Deafheaven, Loma Prieta), "Rheia" stands as a turning point, where Oathbreaker began pushing beyond the boundaries of contemporary heavy music.

Their awe-inspiring Instrumentation was recorded on two inch tape in a largely live environment. Vocals where also captured in single takes, heightening the immediacy and intensity of Caro Tanghe's legendary performances.

"10:56" opens in restraint before giving way to the explosive "Second Son of R," where melody fractures into blackened intensity and shifting tempos. "Being Able To Feel Nothing" surges and collapses in waves, while "Stay Here / Accroche-Moi" offers a spectral acoustic pause before "Needles In Your Skin," a stark and deeply personal centerpiece.

From there, the record only expands. "Immortals" swells with overwhelming force, leading into the triptych of "I'm Sorry, This Is," "Where I Live," and "Where I Leave." It all resolves with "Begeerte," a closer that drifts into the unknown, dissolving as it arrives.

TRACK LISTING:
01. 10:56
02. Second Son of R.
03. Being Able to Feel Nothing
04. Stay Here / Accroche-Moi
