Haggard Cat are a critically acclaimed British post hardcore/alt-rock duo, composed of drummer/backing vocalist Tom Marsh and vocalist/guitarist Matt Reynolds. Both members are seen as core pillars of the UK rock and metal scene, having initially made names for themselves as members of the cult band Heck (formerly Baby Godzilla) who were active from 2009-2017. Haggard Cat started as a side project for Tom and Matt, but soon became their main focus when Heck disbanded in 2017. Haggard Cat’s aim was to maintain the same lawless rock and roll energy that Heck had, but with more of a laser sharp focus on diverse song writing and infectious hooks.

Haggard Cat laid a blueprint of what was to come with their demo record ‘Charger’ in 2013, but it wasn’t until they released their 2018 album ‘Challenger’ (Earache Records) that the band made their first proper musical statement to the world. The record immediately caught the attention of the press, with Metal Hammer describing them as “a balls-out, batshit, rock ’n’ roll freight train”.

The band followed with their second LP ‘Common Sense Holiday’ (Earache Records) in March 2020, right on the cusp of the world coming to a grinding halt. Fortunately the record was still potent enough to cut through the turmoil happening at the time, as Kerrang Magazine would note that “Common Sense Holiday, cemented the duo’s reputation as one of the UK’s premier noisemakers”.

Emerging from lock down, the band didn’t waste any time and immediately set about self-releasing their 2021 EP ‘Cheer Up’, followed by an extensive touring schedule, where the duo melted the faces of audiences anywhere that they set foot on stage. How two people manage to create such a hypnotic racket is truly an impressive feat, and because of this Haggard Cat have managed to garner an incredible reputation as a live band. This reputation has awarded them an impressive gig CV, with blistering sets at prestigious festivals such as Glastonbury, Boomtown, 2000 Trees and ArcTanGent. They’ve also shared the stage with legendary names such as Dead Kennedys, Enter Shikari, The Bronx, Mutoid Man and many others.

Aside from their electrifying performances, it’s the band's down to earth charm that has won them their audience. When you see Haggard Cat live you will see smiles radiating from both Tom and Matt on stage. This energy is mirrored by the crowd and creates a sense that everyone’s here for the same purpose, to hear some earth shattering rock music and to cut loose together.

For their highly anticipated third full-length album, ‘The Pain That Orbits Life’ , Haggard Cat have teamed up with double Grammy award-winning producer Adrian Bushby to create their most accomplished body of work to date. The album sees the band draw on more progressive influences, featuring sprawling epics and industrial synths along with huge choruses and the more adrenaline-charged moments that they have become well known for.

The Saddest Landscape have been perfecting their balance of frantic hardcore and cathartic vulnerability for over 20 years and return with a double LP on Iodine Recordings in 2026.

Their first new music in a decade, the full length dives fearlessly into themes of survival, grief, the ache that follows, and the fragile hope that keeps us pushing through the dark. These songs exist in the place where the things not said aloud dwell, where memory turns to ash, where love outlives the wreckage.

Recorded with Steve Albini and Jack Shirley, the double LP moves between songs and instrumental passages, shaped by memory, endurance, and hope. Guest appearances from Julien Baker, Jeremy Bolm, and Evan Weiss appear across select tracks.

One of the most enduring voices in modern post-hardcore, The Saddest Landscape, have returned after a decade making sure we’re still alive

Free Stickers with Every Order: A History of Hardcore Stickers is the first book dedicated entirely to the visual and cultural legacy of hardcore punk stickers. Fleeting, affordable, and deeply expressive, stickers helped define the DIY ethos of the scene.

Spanning North America from the early 1980s to now, this deluxe hardcover volume presents a carefully curated archive of rare and often long-lost hardcore stickers, preserved from a medium never intended to survive. Stickers were cheap to produce and easy to distribute. They were powerful in their immediacy, functioning as both promotion and protest, identity and community. Pasted on lampposts, venue walls, record bins, and street signs, they carried the values of hardcore far beyond the shows themselves.

Collected over decades and contextualized through firsthand interviews, the book pairs full-color visual documentation with oral histories from key figures in the scene, including members of 7 Seconds, Quicksand, Earth Crisis, Have Heart, American Nightmare, Hot Water Music, Bane, Integrity, and Agnostic Front, among others.

Rather than aiming for encyclopedic completeness, Free Stickers with Every Order follows a selective and thoughtful approach. Many sticker artifacts have been lost over time and cannot be recovered. The book stands as a focused time capsule of hardcore’s visual language, values, and community, told by those who were there.

STREET DATE: 4/3/26
CAT#: PRO-112
LABEL: Protagonist Music

There is a specific kind of architectural tension that exists in the New Jersey suburbs—a sense of being boxed in by history while staring down an uncertain, industrial horizon. It’s an environment that birthed some of the most visceral hardcore of the last two decades, and it’s the soil from which Demmers has emerged. On their debut full-length, Forced Perspective, the band strips away the distortion of their heavy-music pedigree to reveal something colder, sharper, and deeply haunting.

The album’s lead single, “Say It” serves as the record's mission statement, capturing the weary, mid-tempo angst of Disintegration-era The Cure while maintaining a lean, athletic muscularity. While Demmers clearly counts the monochromatic majesty of The Chameleons and The Sound as north stars, Forced Perspective is no mere exercise in 80s worship. The nine-song collection is informed by the members’ history in the hardcore scene—a past life that manifests here not in volume, but in a relentless velocity and intent that also echoes the emotional weight of Sunny Day Real Estate and Mineral.

Recorded with an eye toward sparse arrangements, the record allows for a specific kind of sonic claustrophobia where the vocals hover with a quiet, inward-looking intensity. It is the sound of a band internalizing the bleak urgency of their predecessors and sharpening it into a weapon for the 2020s, resulting in a debut that is as uncompromising as it is introspective.

Mallavora are a blazing force in alt-metal, fusing ferocious riffs with elements of R&B, soul, and the rich cultural heritage of vocalist Jessica Douek’s Jewish-Middle Eastern roots. Since emerging in 2020, the band has carved out a reputation as one of the most exciting rising acts in heavy music, with support from BBC Radio 1, Kerrang! Radio and acclaimed rock and metal press such as Metal Hammer, Kerrang! and Alt Press.

2024 saw the band make their Download Festival debut, undertake their first UK headline tour, and secure huge support slots with powerhouse bands such as Skindred. Following the release of their EP “Echoes”, the band has enjoyed a busy schedule in 2025 - with appearances at 2000trees (main stage) and Alyx Holcombe’s MANTRA showcase.

In recent months, Mallavora have been popping up everywhere, from the stages of Boomtown and Burn It Down Festivals, to the catwalk at London Fashion Week where they provided the soundtrack to Unhidden's latest clothing range. Most recently, you may have heard vocalist Jessica’s incredible vocal abilities in an episode of BBC 1’s The Celebrity Traitors, a star-studded game show that features household names such as Stephen Fry, Alan Carr and Claudia Winkleman. Jess was called upon by the producers of the show to produce 'banshee-like’ wails, demonstrating her vocal range which stretches from beautiful high octave singing to the extremes of fry screaming.

All of Mallavora’s achievements have been leading to this moment: the announcement of their debut album 'What If Better Never Comes?'. Set for release on March 27th 2026 via Church Road Records, this record showcases the band's growth as songwriters and highlights their constant hunger to push the envelope.

"We are so proud to announce the release of our debut album, 'What If Better Never Comes?'. This record is a conceptual exploration of sickness - personal and societal - and it’s given us the space to express our experiences of difference in new and expansive ways. We hope its vulnerability, and the message it carries, brings comfort and catharsis to anyone who’s ever lived inside emotions too complex to name."

“Afraid that I’m falling behind” repeats as the final refrain of the title track on Feverchild’s debut full-length, “Center of the Earth”. Painfully resonant for anyone grappling with adulthood, the line distills the album’s central themes: longing for love, isolation, and the inescapable pull of memory.

The lead single “Endless” captures the band’s core sound, but it’s on deeper cuts like “Forms of Falling Gently” where the album’s emotional weight fully unfolds. The track begins with a restrained, minimal melody before gradually building toward a powerful crescendo that’s reflective of the album’s overall tension. “Out of My Hands” and “Zero Gravity Hearts” both have driving rhythms and sing-along choruses, while the closer “Turpentine” strips everything back to acoustic guitar and voice, delivering a quiet and intimate final moment.

The fear of falling behind may be daunting, but “Center of the Earth” suggests it could be necessary to progress.

Oklahoma City continues to rise with a new wave of independent bands, and Honor Choir are at the forefront. Not only are they doing something different for OKC, they’re doing something different within today’s DIY music. While Blink-182 can be a common influence, Honor Choir push their anthemic pop-punk foundation further, pulling from early-2000s emo and post-hardcore touchstones like Hey Mercedes, New End Original and Rival Schools, alongside ’80s new-wave influences such as New Order and When in Rome.

That range can be heard clearly on “Satellite Receiver” which moves from an abrasive guitar riff into acoustic guitar and piano, and the five-minute closer “Envelope” feels like it could sit comfortably on New Order’s Republic. Honor Choir has mastered combining their range of influences into something incredibly cohesive, and manages to fit a chorus into each song that gets stuck in your head.

For more than three decades, Converge have delivered musical and emotional catharsis, putting purpose before perception and intent before interpretation. Whether it’s their 2001 landmark recording Jane Doe or their 2021 Bloodmoon: I collaboration with Chelsea Wolfe, they have created some of the most compelling music, lyrics, and visual art of the 21st century. During that time, fewer bands have had a greater impact on the underground imagination.

It seems unlikely that anyone who has been making music for this long would create one of their best works for their eleventh album, in their 35th year as a band. And yet: Love is Not Enough might be the apotheosis of Converge’s decades-long journey through the punk, hardcore and metal microcosm. What vocalist/lyricist Jacob Bannon, guitarist/producer Kurt Ballou, bassist/vocalist Nate Newton and drummer Ben Koller have created is a strident artistic statement on the turmoil of living that hones their collective strengths to a razor’s edge.

There isn’t an ounce of fat. Every song moves with a power and purpose that eclipses their human origins, that speaks to the anger, pain, and frustration of the modern age. From the opening fusillade of the title track to the closing hurricane of “We Were Never the Same,” Love Is Not Enough is a sonorous balance of vitality and viciousness that reflects the chaos and uncertainty of the times we live in.

“There’s always obstacles in the world,” Bannon says. “Personal, professional, economical, whatever. But I feel like we’re in a pressure cooker somewhere on our evolutionary line. It’s a lot just to be a human being in the modern world, trying to function, maintain, grow, have empathy, have compassion. It takes more than it used to, to do all those things.”

The album title itself says everything about the trials of today. “The line ‘Love is not enough’ is something I had kicking around for a while,” Bannon says. “Some of the things I wrote at the time were from a human resilience perspective, an acceptance of the brutality and unforgiving nature of the world. I was reflecting on that in poetic form and set it aside. When we got into the studio, it all fit together.”

“Bad Faith” is a deeply personal song about cruel intentions and limited options. “It came from watching someone I love being wronged and broken apart, and there was nothing I could do about it because there was no good intention in the first place,” Bannon says. “It’s that feeling of helplessness because nothing I could do or say could better the situation. I just had to love and support and do what I could to be there. But I couldn’t effect actual change. That’s a horrible feeling.”

“We Were Never The Same” recognizes the unrelatable in even the closest of relations. “That one was written about getting together with people at a funeral, finding commonality among a variety of people in your life at a time of loss and grief,” Bannon says. “We’ve all been through some version of that in our lives. If you listen to heavy music, you appreciate the time, you appreciate the faces, you appreciate the histories with different people and loved ones. But then the next day comes, all the regular stressors of everyday life kick in, and you don’t really connect the way you wish to after reflecting on the loss of somebody. I was processing all that stuff when I wrote the line, ‘Why do we all gather to mourn yet not to cherish?’ It’s an honest question.”

Love Is Not Enough features no special guests, no studio trickery, no relentless massaging of human imperfection in trying to manufacture the perfect take. “I think that realism is missing from a lot of modern music of any genre, but especially our genre,” Bannon says. “Things either go super raw and almost chaotic to the point where it's distracting, or bands take the life out of what they’re doing by editing every aspect. Sometimes the perfect take is the one that has some wildness to it. It's not perfectly executed. There’s a lot of powerful moments on this record and a lot of angry moments. The realism amplifies that.”

Unlike so many albums that adhere to a time-honored sequencing format, cherry-picking favored tracks for the all-important first, second, and final spots, Love Is Not Enough is all about momentum. “It does a thing that no other Converge record does—it keeps ramping up,” Bannon says. “And that’s definitely by design. Internally, we passed around dozens of ideas for sequencing because everyone interprets music differently and there’s no right way of doing it. When we do that, we always joke that we all have to be equally unhappy. But this is the one that works.”

Love Is Not Enough was recorded and mixed by Kurt Ballou at God City in Salem, Massachusetts, with engineering assistance from Zach Weeks. Jacob Bannon did the artwork and design, creating an image for each song and a commanding cover depicting a celestial witness to a world aflame.

“We still identify this band as the outlet that’s essential to our lives,” Bannon says. “We give everything we have to it. Being past your average middle age, we’re starting to see deeper than before into a variety of places. And I don’t think that’s specific to us. I think that’s something that’s utterly relatable.”

As part of its ongoing series of definitive reissues, Iodine Recordings proudly presents the 30th Anniversary Deluxe Edition of Quicksand’s Manic Compression—a landmark of post-hardcore innovation and one of the defining albums of the 1990s. More than just a reissue, this edition restores the record’s sound and visual art in full, honoring the band’s enduring influence and the intensity that reshaped heavy music’s trajectory.

In celebration of this milestone, Iodine Recordings are presenting a limited-edition 64-page hardcover book chronicling the release and legacy of this influential album. The book includes a foreword by Walter Schreifels, never-before-seen photographs, original art, rare concert posters, and more from 1994–1995. It also features written tributes from members of Knocked Loose, Coheed and Cambria, New Found Glory, Bane, Orange 9mm, Limp Bizkit, Drug Church, Touché Amoré, P.O.D., Fiddlehead, Glassjaw, H2O, At the Drive-In, and others. Complete with a case-wrapped, soft-touch cover, this definitive companion piece is an essential addition to any fan’s collection.

If Slip announced Quicksand’s arrival, then Manic Compression proved they weren’t just a moment—they were a movement. Released in early 1995 on Island Records, the record built upon the foundation of their debut and expanded it into something sharper, darker, and more dynamic. Its tightly coiled songs fuse hardcore ferocity, metallic heft, and alt-rock melody into a streamlined 12-track assault that perfectly captured the tension of its time.

Opening track “Backward” throws listeners straight into the deep end with slashing guitars and rhythmic precision that set the tone for the album’s relentless pacing. Lead single “Thorn in My Side” finds Quicksand at their most immediate—raw urgency refined into anthemic form, earning heavy rotation on MTV’s 120 Minutes and carving the band’s place in the wider alt-rock landscape of the mid-’90s. Tracks like “Landmine Spring” and “Delusional” balance jagged riffs with space and atmosphere, proving Quicksand’s ability to stretch hardcore into entirely new terrain.

Upon release, Manic Compression peaked at No. 135 on the Billboard 200 and earned the band an invitation to the first-ever Warped Tour—milestones that carried their sound far beyond the hardcore underground and into the broader alternative rock conversation.

Manic Compression remains a testament to Quicksand’s evolution—more concise than Slip but no less visionary. Standing tall alongside the landmark records of its era, its DNA is unmistakably rooted in the New York Hardcore scene that forged its members. The record endures as one of the most influential documents of 1990s post-hardcore, leaving its mark on bands such as Deftones, Cave In, Thrice, and countless others.

Recorded by Walter Schreifels (Gorilla Biscuits, Youth of Today), Tom Capone (Beyond, Bold), Sergio Vega (Deftones, Moondog), and Alan Cage (Beyond, Seaweed), Manic Compression was produced by Wharton Tiers (Sonic Youth, Helmet) and Don Fury (Sick of it All, Agnostic Front)—figures whose fingerprints ground the record in both New York’s underground grit and its rising alternative ascent. Out of print for years, the 30th Anniversary Edition has been remastered for vinyl from the 1995 master tapes by Jack Shirley (Deafheaven, Joyce Manor) at The Atomic Garden. The deluxe gatefold jacket features expanded artwork, meticulously reconstructed from Melinda Beck’s archival sketches, and is available in several limited vinyl variants.

Manic Compression is both a time capsule and a timeless benchmark—restored in full and re-presented for a new generation of listeners.

LABEL: Sunday Drive

“Dance Finite” may pulse with bright, dance-ready rhythms, but there’s a moody, shadowed core running beneath it—a beauty in the darkness. Coming out of California’s valley and led by songwriter Brandon Olds alongside Coleman Elliot, Jules Trifan, and Kaeleb Dummar, Dance of Days deliver a modern take on ’80s new wave and post-punk while naturally carrying the attitude of California punk. On their debut album, D.O.D. wear their influences openly: Peter Hook (New Order) style bass lines, the dark and heavy electronics of Depeche Mode and Sisters of Mercy, and the band name pulled from D.C. hardcore band, Embrace.

“Dance Finite” is an eight-track wave of apathy and gloom; heavy in emotion but still makes you want to move.

LP - $20.65 / CD - $12.00
STREET DATE: 02/27/26
CAT#: CRR251
LABEL: Church Road

Matador return in 2026 with Above, Below and So, a towering new statement in epic psychedelic post-metal, slated for release on 27th February via Church Road Records. Expansive yet crushing, the album captures the band at their most ambitious, defined by moments of vast, foreboding atmosphere, cinematic scope and immersive sonic depth.

Originally conceived in 2019 by guitarist and vocalist James Kirk, Matador began as a largely solitary vision. Kirk wrote and produced the debut They Were Here Before Us almost entirely alone, enlisting outside help only for drum tracking. That foundation soon evolved into a full creative force when Kirk joined with drummer Scott Stronach and bassist Mark Ainsworth in 2020.

The trio’s chemistry was fully realised on their sophomore album The Surge (2021), recorded and engineered at Rain City Recorders by acclaimed producer Jesse Gander (Western Canadian Music Awards “Engineer of the Year”, two-time Juno Award recipient). The album struck a chord across the underground post-rock, post-metal and stoner scenes, earning features on influential discovery platforms such as Where Post Rock Dwells, 666MrDoom, Underrated Albums and Weedian.

With Above, Below and So, Matador push their sound further than ever before. The album sees the band diving deeper into technical, meticulously crafted compositions, blending delicate, haunting melodies with brutal doom-laden riffs and powerful, hypnotic rhythms. The result is a richly cinematic experience, both immersive and confrontational that draws the listener deeper into Matador’s evolving universe.

Above, Below and So stands as Matador’s most vivid and fully realised work to date: a formidable, atmospheric journey that cements their place at the forefront of modern psychedelic post-metal.

The 20th anniversary reissue of “Laisser Vivre les Squelettes,” the 2005 album from the iconic French band, Daitro.

Hailing from Lyon, France, Daitro delivered a perfect blend of hardcore and emo, proving that there are still some bands that possess the power and spirit of do-it-yourself punk that the original French emo movement held in the 90’s. At the same time, Daitro no doubt created their own sound, full of unique intensity, passion, and atmosphere, demonstrated best on their celebrated album, “Laisser Vivre les Squelettes.” In their heyday, Daitro toured the globe throughout the early 2000’s and released several albums, EPs and split releases with bands such as Raein and Ampere. They remain highly regarded and influential in the contemporary DIY screamo and post-hardcore scene.

As evocative as the album title “I Want to Pull the Sleep From Your Eyes” is, Grief Mop stretch its imagery even further across their debut nine-track LP. The opener, “I Prefer to Be Nobody”, sets the tone with the line, “…and dreamt you were showing me your face covered up with bleach,” a lyric that plays out like a Lynchian film still. On the lead single, Strange World, Lacy sustains this eerie songwriting, screaming “rolling over in the dirt…it may best to just lie” as the track reaches its peak. Each song has its picture-painted moment, layered in abrasive drum-and-bass tones and dissolving guitar melodies. Grief Mop pull from a wide range of influences from emo, post-rock, and shoegaze bands like Mock Orange, Hum, The Appleseed Cast, and My Bloody Valentine to create this off-kilter, yet focused debut album.

CAT#: SDR-151
LABEL: Sunday Drive

Squint doesn’t slow down. Just a year after their LP Big Hand, the post-hardcore band returns with Drag—a six-track EP packed with grit and riffs. Recorded with punk/hardcore producer Andy Nelson at Bricktop Recording (Weekend Nachos, Harm’s Way, and more), the EP captures some of the band’s most straightforward yet dynamic work to date.

The record opens with “Squintro Pt. 2,” a 40-second callback to their debut EP Feel It, before flowing seamlessly into “Green Grass,” where a driving post-hardcore track evolves into a rhythmic, alt-rock-inspired anthem. This balance defines Drag: fast, urgent songwriting layered with dynamics that leave space for pauses, claps, and sing-alongs.

On Drag, Squint sound confident and sharp, moving effortlessly across moods and styles while always sounding like Squint.
