Glean "Worlds Apart"

12" EP - $16.60
STREET DATE: 12/12/25
CAT#: SDR-147
LABEL: Sunday Drive

With a foundation of San Diego’s punk influences from Drive Like Jehu, Blink-182, Heroin and others, a band like Glean naturally have a sense of melody. Formed in 2019 by four kids (now young adults), the band blends that melodic instinct with their love of punk and hardcore, crafting energetic, emotional, and catchy songs in the vein of Seaweed, Samiam, Jawbreaker, Lifetime, and Title Fight.

“Worlds Apart” is Glean’s first album in years and their debut on Sunday Drive Records. It feels like the record they’ve been building toward since their 2020 demo. Now with a refreshed lineup, the production of Max Epstein (Photographic Memory), and mastering by Phillip Odom (Militarie Gun, Glare, Ivy League TX), Glean have been able to write some of their catchiest songs yet. On lead single “Sediment,” Boucher and Barkley trade vocals over scratchy guitars that build up to the line, “I can feel you fall beneath the sediment.” That same energy flows into “Receive You,” featuring guest vocals from longtime friend Sam Allen (Anxious, G.I. Bill). Glean also pulls back on the track, “Exit Wound” that sounds much more quiet and intimate, almost like a lost Mineral or Texas is the Reason song.

“Worlds Apart” is sonically abrasive, while still carrying melody, poetic lyrics and tons of emotions.

fawn "Paper Thin"

LP - $16.60
STREET DATE: 11/21/25
CAT#: SDR-148
LABEL: Sunday Drive

Hailing from San Antonio/Austin, Texas Fawn has stood out in the Texas scene with their noisy and atmospheric performances, joining alongside a mix from supporting touring artists to a local hardcore show. Singer and composer, Trevor Humphreys’ vocal melodies softly carry the songs gracefully, with driving rhythms from drummer, Jes Morales, bassist, Olivia Jacome, and guitarist Giovannis Campos.

“Paper Thin” marks Fawn’s first proper release on Sunday Drive Records and their first full project since 2022’s self-titled EP. While the record stays true to the band’s established sound, these four tracks feel both expansive and stripped down, layered yet effortlessly composed. Each song runs just past the four-minute mark, but doesn’t feel like it, because of the memorable melodies and guitar leads that can easily get stuck in your head.

With “Paper Thin”, Fawn continues to set themselves apart and further solidifies their place in Texas’ thriving alternative-rock scene.

Negative Blast "Destroy Myself For Fun"

LP - $17.25
STREET DATE: 11/14/25
CAT#: 31G157
LABEL: Three One G

Negative Blast formed in San Diego during the depths of the pandemic when longtime buds Rainier Pesebre (vocals) and Alexander Jacobelli (guitar) began trading riffs and ideas in isolation. Jacobelli and bassist Patrick Callaway were touring buddies in their respective bands Lewd Acts and Hour of the Wolf during the early 2000s hardcore punk renaissance. Within two weeks of Rain and Alex jamming ideas, Pat relocated from Chicago to San Diego, cementing the songwriting core of the band.

Jacobelli, who operates Sunsick Studio in La Mesa, engineered and mixed the band’s early recordings, allowing Negative Blast to develop and release material quickly. Their first EP, The First Four Months, was followed by DEMO 002. Initial shows featured Sam Rich (Del Vipers, Riverboat Gamblers) on drums before the group began work on their first LP, Echo Planet, released through Quiet Panic Records.

Midway through the record, Callaway reached out to Mario Rubalcaba (Earthless, Hot Snakes, Rocket From the Crypt), who joined on drums. With Rubalcaba, the band released a split with LA hardcore act SWEAT via Vitriol Records. In 2025, drummer Hunter Martinez (Decent Criminal, Human Issue) stepped in as a permanent member. His energy is captured on the band’s 2025 full-length, Destroy Myself For Fun. Negative Blast’s live résumé includes sharing stages with Botch, Unsane, Deaf Club, The Bled, Finch, Darkest Hour, Swing Kids, Clikatat Ikatowi, Lower Class Brats, The Bronx, SeeYouSpaceCowboy, Loma Prieta, City of Caterpillar, High Vis, and 7 Seconds, among others.

Secret World "Tomorrow Is A Mystery To Me"

LP - $17.25
STREET DATE: 11/07/25
CAT#: SDR-144
LABEL: Sunday Drive

Secret World deliver hearty, hardcore rock ‘n’ roll with an earnest charm. Comprised of friends who connected through the Sydney and Newcastle hardcore scenes, Secret World members played in other bands like SPEED, Trophy Eyes and Downside before forming the group in 2023; soon releasing their highly-praised EP Guilt Is Good in 2024, led by the anthemic single ‘Living Less’. Now, Secret World are on the verge of releasing their second EP Tomorrow Is A Mystery To Me.

Arriving on September 19 via Last Ride Records (AU/NZ), Sunday Drive Records (USA) and Ice Grills (JP), Tomorrow Is A Mystery To Me builds upon Secret World’s rock ‘n’ roll foundation with the urgency of hardcore punk and hook-laden choruses drawn from alt-rock sensibilities. While the EP is filled with emotive storytelling and extended anecdotes, it paints a clear picture of a band who are intent on seizing this moment, pushing forward with purpose, and giving it their absolute all.

Lead single ‘Good Faith’ features Sydney rock royalty Shogun (Royal Headache, Antenna) and fuses punchy and melodic vocals, leading into an infectious stadium-sized hook. Elsewhere, the ravaging ‘Repeat Offender’ is gritty and unapologetic; while the breezier riffs of ‘Everywhere Now’ trade aggression for reflection - a love letter to the hardcore scene and the friends they’ve lost along the way, blending grief with gratitude and everything in between.

Tomorrow Is A Mystery To Me was produced, recorded and mixed by Fletcher Matthews (Dear Seattle, Trophy Eyes) ** and mastered by Mike Kalajian at Rogue Planet (Quicksand, Saves The Day). Despite the clean sound, the EP still retains the energy of a sweat-drenched pub that’s packed to the brim, filled with sing-a-longs beside friends and strangers that you’ve just met. There’s no doubt that Secret World songs are made to be experienced live, with the band already selling out their own headline shows in Australia and playing alongside internationals like Basement, Drain and No Pressure.

Secret World are soon taking to the United States for the first time, touring alongside UK champions High Vis; and also playing at Furnace Fest with pioneers like Jimmy Eat World, Dropkick Murphys and Knocked Loose. Armed with a new EP and a raucous live show to boot, the band are charging into new territory - louder, sharper, and more sure of themselves than ever.

Massa Nera "The Emptiness of All Things"

LP - $17.25
STREET DATE: 10/31/25
CAT#: VIS028
LABEL: Persistent Vision

Our present moment sees us grappling with the rise of end-times fascism, the annihilation of collective, shared meaning, and the looming threat of climate catastrophe. It is within this landscape that Massa Nera release their urgent, genre-defying 3rd LP, "The Emptiness of All Things."

Having been given a commission by the Gabriela Lena Frank Creative Academy of Music to create a work that addresses the climate crisis, Massa Nera embraced experimentation, confrontation, and musical malfeasance in an attempt to capture the hellish inanity that defines our reality. Where once their songs bounced, they now alternately lumber and convulse. Their former impulse towards dance has mutated into a desire for destruction.

Lyrically, Massa Nera has shunned autobiography in favor of something more character-driven, more literary, more speculative. They offer a snapshot of capitalistic delusion and existential paralysis, rooted in the anxieties and fractured psychologies of the here and now. In short, "The Emptiness of All Things" is a lyrical call to arms, delivered not as a rallying cry but as an obituary. It is a mirror held up to the abyss, reflected back at the listener without pity or mawkish sentiment.

Despite this, the band has not abandoned melody. The predominant mood of ugliness is counterbalanced by passages of beauty, longing, and even undisguised gentleness. This gentleness, however, is not in service of an unearned, misplaced optimism. It is offered in the spirit of reflection, allowing listener and band alike to take a breath as they stare into the void.

"The Emptiness of All Things" was recorded and mixed by Matt Michael (No Man, Majority Rule) and mastered by James Plotkin (Khanate). The LP comes packaged in a gatefold jacket with newsprint poster insert and limited colored vinyl.

Believe in Nothing "Rot"

LP - $20.65 / CD - $12.00
STREET DATE: 10/31/25
CAT#: CRR254
LABEL: Church Road

Due for release on 31st October 2025 via Church Road Records, Rot is Believe In Nothing’s full-length debut and the culmination of their bleak creative vision. It chisels into granite their counter-intuitive approach to heaviness: equal parts chaos and control, volume and restraint, with layered textures collapsing under their own weight. Where earlier singles hinted at suffocating tension, Rot dives headlong into the abyss, using pressure, space, and psychological decay to conjure a world that feels like it’s been burning for years. The title track, “Rot”, already a staple in their live set, appears at the end of shows for a reason: a final, devastating statement that refuses to comfort. A cracked mirror held up to the slow, grinding death of the familiar which leaves no closure, only aftermath.

Raein "Forme Sommerse"

LP - $17.50
STREET DATE: 10/24/25
CAT#: VIS027
LABEL: Persistent Vision

Following a triumphant return to live performances and several vinyl reissues last year, Italy’s RAEIN presents a brand new album, "Forme Sommerse" (Submerged Forms). Their first new music in ten years, "Forme Sommerse" consists of two seamless side-length songs across nearly thirty minutes - an emotionally complex, dynamic and graceful hardcore record from start to finish.

“It’s been ten years since our last recording. Ten years of change. It wasn’t a given we’d manage it again; clearly, what once was has cut deep—and stayed. We moved instinctively, as we always have, condensing these ten years of shifts and distances into half an hour of music. When we reflect on reality, it’s its submerged forms that move us; this record, true to tradition, is a tribute to what can’t be seen and to what compels us.”

Founded in 2002 in Italy, the band released a dizzying amount of music, across multiple splits, EPs and albums, while extensively touring the world during their original run. Reformed in 2023, Raein is considered to be one of the leaders in emotional post-hardcore, carrying a similar spirit and sound as bands like Orchid, Saetia, Pg.99, and others. Melding melody and discordance into something truly beautiful to experience.

"Forme Sommerse" comes packaged in a matte, full color gatefold jacket with printed inner sleeve and limited colored vinyl.

TRACK LISTING:
01. Primo Movimento
02. Secondo Movimento

Mastiff "For All the Dead Dreams"

LP - $20.65 / CD - $12.00
STREET DATE: 10/24/25
CAT#: CRR255
LABEL: Church Road

Whether spreading plagues, turning the Earth to ash or teetering on the precipice of depression, you can always count on Kingston Upon Hull’s premier misery merchants Mastiff to ruin your day. Now well over a decade into their parade of embittered misanthropy, the East Yorkshire quintet have definitively burned their mark into the UK’s extreme music scene with a fistful of mangled hardcore and sludge riffs and an endless well of spite.

Mastiff’s reputation as a ferocious live entity only continues to grow, as they have spent the last few years racking up appearances at prestigious heavy music festivals like Bloodstock, Damnation, Incineration and DesertFest to name but a few, as well as sharing stages and touring with the likes of Avatar, Palm Reader, Conan, Black Tongue, Cult Leader, Calligram, Iron Monkey, Raging Speedhorn and many, many more.

As for recorded output, following two critically acclaimed albums on MNRK Heavy (High On Fire, The Callous Daoboys, Underoath, Darkest Hour etc), as well as their track ‘Acid Breather’ appearing in the multi-million-selling video game Cyberpunk 2077 and its Netflix anime spin-off Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, Mastiff have finally and proudly joined the hallowed roster of Church Road Records for the release of ‘For All The Dead Dreams’, a blistering five-song assault of pummelling and aggravated hardcore.

Once again recorded and mixed by the incredible Joe Clayton at Nø Studio and mastered by the legendary Brad Boatright at Audiosiege, ‘…Dead Dreams’ sees Mastiff at their most brutish, sounding like Nails, Harms Way and Gatecreeper thrown into a cement mixer and poured straight into your ears. If the band’s previous album ‘Deprecipice’ felt as blunt and ignorant as heavy music gets, revel in horror as Mastiff collectively grunt ‘Hold my beer’ and dish up 15 minutes of unrelenting and unforgiving punishment.

Knowso "Hypnotic Smack"

LP - $12.70
STREET DATE: 9/5/25
CAT#: SSR-152
LABEL: Sorry State

Hypnotic Smack is the new album from Knowso, the Cleveland punk duo featuring Nathan Ward (Cruelster, Perverts Again, the Carp) and Jayson Gerycz (Cloud Nothings). If you’ve heard Knowso’s music, you know they’re spiritual children of Devo, both in their proclivity toward dense and nervy rhythmic experimentation and in the way their lyrics turn a cracked, distorted mirror at the world and its many absurdities. Like the Fall’s best records, Hypnotic Smack attacks the body and the brain simultaneously, your hips jerking uncontrollably to the robotic pulse of “You Climb the Sphynx” and “Club Music is the Soundtrack” while your brain chews the koan-like cud of lyrical nuggets such as “every boss in America is a real estate agent.” Ward’s cryptic lyrics reflect the psychedelic labyrinth of horrors that is your daily doomscroll, but it’s OK… we can still dance the night away to “Panopticon,” the goth club dance anthem no one predicted Knowso would write. The world is full of punk bands that are great at pummeling you, but Hypnotic Smack is the rare punk record that beguiles and entrances.

TRACK LISTING:
01. You Climb the Sphinx
02. Blue
03. There Is No Connection

Illiterates "Does Not Compute"

LP - $12.70
STREET DATE: 9/5/25
CAT#: SSR-148
LABEL: Sorry State

The “dumbest band in hardcore” returns with twelve more rampaging tracks. While Illiterates’ last record, 2023’s No Experts, trimmed their compositions to the bone, Does Not Compute widens the scope just a hair, making room for anthemic mid-paced parts (see “Remember When” and the epic title track), blazing Straight Ahead-esque crossover rippage (“Sustainability”), and even a touch of trad youth crew (the Can’t Close My Eyes influences were all over No Experts, but “No One Wants To” is pure Revelation Records circa 1988). Illiterates have also added a new guitarist since the last record, which they’re so excited about they wrote a song about it (“Hig Champion”), though they tastefully limit themselves to just a few eruptions of fret-melting lead licks. And while Illiterates insist they’re dumb, their lyrics are full of wisdom you don’t get at the library, like the anti-pretension anthem “Read the Room” (my favorite lyric: “one thing school didn’t teach you is how to read the fucking room”). Hair-splitting aside, Does Not Compute is another great hardcore record from one of the best bands in the game right now.

Feel The Teeth captures a band navigating the tension between exhaustion and revelation, pushing through the haze of disillusionment while still searching for meaning. Lyrically, Feel The Teeth reflects the weight of an era that has shifted in unexpected ways—personally, politically, and socially—capturing the complexities of trying to find clarity in a world that often feels out of control.

Where their 2020 album Short Songs for End Times felt like a direct confrontation with the chaos of a fractured world, Feel The Teeth dwells in the quieter aftermath, the moments of clarity amidst the noise. The album is soaked in existential fatigue—tracks like "Nightsong" and "Diamonds" bring us to the edge of the abyss, questioning the worth of it all, while grappling with the weight of personal and collective history. As Nathan Ellis explains, "Nightsong" is a reflection of how time and trauma warp the body and mind: "I don't sleep very well anymore... now I just have these moments between being awake and my hypnogogic hallucinations."

At its core, Feel The Teeth is about grappling with internal conflict. Songs like "Bell Penny" take on self-preservation versus empathy, while "Echolalia" offers a sobering realization of the passing of time: “A song about middle age enlightenment. Realizing that I spent so many years wanting, when all I needed were the moments I had.”

Throughout the record, teeth become a symbol—of the things we try to bury, of pain that refuses to be ignored, and of the subtle violence of everyday survival. Tracks like "Snake Dreams" and "Nothing Certain" explore anxiety and transformation, challenging the listener to not just endure, but to shed old skins and confront what’s lurking underneath.

If Short Songs for End Times was a roaring statement of survival, Feel The Teeth is the moment after—a quieter, more introspective reckoning with what it means to still be here, still searching for meaning, still hoping for something better even when we’re not sure what it looks like anymore. In an age where comfort is a fleeting illusion and the answers remain out of reach, Feel The Teeth is the sound of a band refusing to give up, refusing to let go.
